(Evaluation by Nick Medforth and Dr. Daz Greenop at the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences, Liverpool JMU)

“We’re proud to have been able to donate the British Sign Language translation to such a worthwhile project with AhHa Publications and the NHS.

So often deaf children miss out on information that hearing children get ‘on the grapevine’. These fun, accessible videos will make sure

all children get the same important health messages.”Malcolm Wright, Managing Director, ITV SignPost

The NHS Lesson Plan & Resource Pack follows on from, and expands the remit of, the successful 2010 NHS Institute’s Emergency and Urgent Care Lesson Plan for 11 to 14 year olds, a single stand-alone lesson. This newly developed dynamic pack which can cover up to a half terms worth of work, speaks to younger children; it is bright, colourful and engaging, and importantly linked to the National Curriculum across six year groups with a PSHE/Citizenship focus.

The pack features Monkey’s NHS Explorer’s Film clips created with and for children – all embedded with British Sign Language (BSL) translation generously donated by ITV SignPost. ITFC also kindly donated Audio Description and Subtitling, making the films accessible to all, and at the same time raising awareness for and about hearing and/or visually impaired children.

Monkey and the NHS Explorer’s adventures are available via YouTube channel ‘MonkeysMission’.
