Healers Hide and Seek 7 ways to find your ideal clients find you

(without feeling exposed)

Let’s explore your rela onship to you‐ your cli‐

ents and the connec on to spirit. As a heart‐

centered healer you live a connected life 24/7.

You listened to that inner call, invested in your cra with some wonderful gi ed

teachers.

Along the way you hung out your shingle as a healer and started seeing clients

and became a spiritual entrepreneur‐ you went into business. With Spirit, with

vision, with courage and faith you just did it.

And I honor that… spirit called to you and you said yes. I know your journey and

have been in circles with you. I’ve listened to your longings and sat with your

fears. No one taught us how to ‘do business as a healer’. It’s rarely talked about or

even discussed…

Then with technology the way we ‘do’ business as healers changed rapidly over

the last decade. And because we stand at the cu ng edge of change, it’s a seat of

the pants experience…

and some mes we go into overwhelm by hiding our gi s from the world and just

playing small.


What makes a good healer? Most of us are wounded healers. We’ve experienced

an opening that moved us into another realm of knowing, seeing and feeling things

differently than other people in our lives. That experience changed us, made us

different.

And then because we feel different we go around trying to dampen down the en‐

ergy in an a empt to fit in with others. That essence of you‐ the mess you don’t

want to talk about is the a rac ng story your clients want to hear. When you say

yes to your mess, learn how to shape shi the energy the wounding becomes em‐

powered. You became the teacher.

You are a way‐shower to others who are longing to wake up. Yet too o en we are

playing hide and seek with this energy.

Was I raised in a home that supports my intui ve knowing?

How did I put that intui ve part of me away, s ck it in the back of the closet?

You are called to speak up when others want you to keep silent. You are called to

be a mentor. You are called to hold point. You are called.

Each healer answers this call in her own way (i.e. as reiki, shamanism). There are

many ways Source‐ the God/dess of your understanding that works through you.

Caroline Myss, in her book “Anatomy of the Spirit,” describes the world behind our

eyes is as important and the world in front of our eyes. I so honor that space and

place within you and around you. Let’s tap into and honor you “woo‐woo” in prac‐

cal ways to find the message in your life’s journey – those messes you want to

push away and hide from is the gold you are seeking. During our work together

[A bit of my story]


My guidance comes through colors and symbols‐ energies that I felt, seen and just

“knew” as a small child that I shared with no one and didn’t know how to explain.

Raised by a very prac cal conserva ve mother my intui ve gi s were not recog‐

nized nor nurtured. Growing up I felt different and alone.

The gi of this is I became an explorer, a risk taker and entrepreneur. Star ng my

first business in my twen es with a dream, a dra ing table and no money I grew

that business into an award winning mul ple 6‐figure design firm.

As an interior designer I used the colors, symbols and images to create transform‐

a ve spaces for my clients. Entering a design compe on I told my mother “I am

going to win.” From some deep place it was so (and I did). There were other

glimpses into this reality when I would just “know” something about a person or

place, yet I didn’t recognize the intui ve gi s so it went virtually unno ced by me.

I was very prac cal…lol

My intui on blossomed through an intense inner healing process at a me when

very li le was wri en on how to develop and use these intui ve gi s, yet alone

how to interpret their messages. I trusted that s ll small inner voice within and

found the right paths‐ conven onal and non‐conven onal that showed me a way

through.

[Step 1 ‐ Clarify Your Message]

When you know what it is you do, and can speak with Authority about it, you can

confidently step up and say YES! to being a healer, teacher and a leader. Take an

inventory of what you offer to your favorite clients…those people you love serv‐

ing who make you want to jump out of bed in the morning and say YES! to the

day. It may be crea ve things you take for granted, that just come so naturally to

you you’re not even aware you’re are ‘doing’ it.

It may be life experiences you’re pushing away saying to yourself “oh this doesn’t

ma er”. INVOKE Clarity. Watch for these aha moments. You’ll hear them from

your clients, your family; your crea ve mojo is so close you take for granted. I tell


my clients “your mess is your message” and then we go on a quest to find out

what that mess is, how the energy serves their and your clients. That mess is what

your clients what they are willing to pay you for, don’t hide it...share it.

Here are 3 simple ques ons to help clarify “my mess is my message.”

What am I known as in the world as a healer today?

How do others see me?

Who would I like to be known as in 1 year? In 5 years?

What do you clients say they love about you?

What gi s and unique skills do you bring to your sessions?

What do family members say when you’re around?

Asking these ques ons you’ll begin to clarify what it is you do, what you are gi ed

at so you can

[Step 2 ‐Own your gi s]

Own your gi s through storytelling. Figure out the heart story, move out of your

comfort zone and go meet new people. Storytelling heals, a racts, inspires.

Healers by nature are humble; however when it comes me to own your gi s you

have to be able to communicate what you do in a way that creates a compelling

story. It’s the a rac ng principle.

Who are you hanging with? If you are only hanging with other healers, because it’s

safe, then you are playing hide and seek with the clients that need your services.

Find the Lean‐in moments!

The goal is to be able to tell a person what you do within a certain amount of me.

In business this is known as an elevator speech‐ i.e. the tradi onal me it takes to

get on and off an elevator. You want to dis ll the essence of your message down

so you can find that sweet spot, the “lean in” moment where your poten al client

wants to hear more. You like working with energy– watch for the signs and aha's.

Networking is about connec ng, mee ng those people we are meant to serve with

our gi s. Are you willing to climb out of our comfort zone? Do you go to network‐

ing events outside your circle of healing friends? Too o en we get comfortable and

like‐hangs‐with‐like... we hang out with healers because they get us, we don't have

to explain what we do, the circle is safe and comfortable.

What if a great client is wai ng to meet you at one of these networking events?

Pick an event in your area, make a commitment to a end. Push past your comfort

zone. When my healing channel first opened up, I was scared to tell people what I

did. One therapist friend said I sounded like a babbling women. The anxiety of

growing up in a home that didn’t support my ‘woo‐woo’ le me ungrounded when

I tried to share. My voice quavered. I knew that I wanted to speak so I took myself

to our local Toastmasters group to find my message and own my Voice.

The task is to be able to tell a person what you do within a certain amount of me.

And you want to capture their a en on so they “lean in” and want to hear more.

[Step 3 ‐Never apologize for your woo‐woo!]

This is such a biggie for me because it’s my message!

In a mastermind group a woman was making fun and discoun ng another wom‐

an’s woo‐woo. It hurts when I hear women do this to each other. When you are a

prac cal mys c, when you have two feet firmly on the ground connected to spir‐

it…then your woo‐woo heals, transforms and saves lives. You know what You

know.

A life changing event for me was the day my woo‐woo saved my daughter’s life. I

was working in my studio when suddenly I felt overcome by a presence, and filled

with dread. My woo‐woo suddenly went on overdrive for no reason. I checked in

with my guides and heard ‘start praying’. Down on my knees I blanketed the neigh‐

borhood in Spiritual Light (from the book Medicine for the Earth).


That same moment, my neighbor Anne suddenly decided to pick up our li le girls

from the bus stop. We lived in a gated community and she NEVER walked down

the street to pick up the kids. As she walked down the sidewalk there was a

strange man si ng in a blue pickup truck watching the girl. Anne ust ‘knew’ he

wasn’t he supposed to be there.

What she didn’t know is the night before a friend at my weekly women’s circle

shared that a man in a blue pick‐up truck called her daughter over to his truck. He

wanted to ask direc ons and tried to pull her daughter into the vehicle. Thank fully

the child got away by staying on her bike and quickly road home.

Women are powerful when we tap into that knowing. That day our collec ve

‘woo‐woo’ saved our daughters lives. This is just one of my many woo‐woo stories.

You, my dear healer, are already connected to this inner knowing. It’s me to say

yes to being a prac cal mys c to come out of hiding, and share your gi s with the

world. You speak it, teach it, share it, market it, and charge money for it. It is the

sacred call of being a healer in business in today’s modern world.

How do I connect with my own inner knowing?

How do I communicate the essence of my healership to others?

By playing small you dampen down your inner radiance‐ the gi s of spirit working

through you.

I’ve never met a healer who didn’t love her transforma onal journey. We just love

ge ng in and roo ng around in the muck‐ those stuck places that when healed

fuel our Soul.

What if your biggest transforma on was around the energy of money? Charging

what you’re worth and claiming your exper se. No ce for one month what clients

are saying when you quote your fees and ask them to invest. Track your energy.


How is their story a mirror of your money mess?

How many mes do you hear clients say “I can’t afford it” and “I don’t know

what to do”? This mindset is a form of hiding and stops you from ge ng things

done. Hiding keeps healers in business playing small‐maybe even stuck and broke.

Shamans believe that soul loss is the most common source of

illness and depression as well as a variety of mental and emo‐

onal disorders. Experiencing a trauma leaves an imprint on the

energe c body‐ your deep groove is the sacred place of the

wounded healer/teacher. The emo ons skip a beat and/or get

stuck in the groove from the soul loss.

The Blessed Wound‐ Your Soul loss‐ your healing journey is the

transforma on (the mess) you came to share; but if you’re not

aware of this (it’s so close you can’t see it) you’ll miss the bless‐

ing.

Where have I lost power, specifically related to the energy of

money…and how is that soul loss around money affec ng me

today?


Soul loss is rampant in our culture, but we don’t acknowledge it. I’ve performed

hundreds of soul retrievals for clients and the ques on for you is “Where have I

lost my money power and how is that affec ng me today?

A er my soul retrieval my crea vity took off in incredible new direc ons‐ that ex‐

perience s ll informs my life as a woman, mother, ar st and shamanic leader in

wonderful ways.

Today I lead an ac ve shamanic healing and coaching prac ce where I’ve per‐

formed hundreds of soul retrievals for family, friends and clients. I intui vely know

before everyone else

she knew

As a child she heard

and felt things

in people

their homes

in places

she knew.

The Unexplainable and

just plain weird

the good and the bad

she took it on

she took it in

she looked at it

some mes digested it

she knew.

She didn't fit.

She threw fits.

She felt weird.

Because

No one could explain

this part life to her.

How do you explain

the unexplainable?

She hid it well

kept this secret

for a very long me.

Years later, now a young woman

Dad le her house

she felt it in her bones

the pain of never seeing

her Daddy again.

She cried all day.

Weeks later

the boa ng accident

then the stroke.

He's never been the same since.

She knew.

Si ng in the mee ng

the urge to leave.

Her child was in trouble

could she be imagining things?

She rushed home to find

locked out of the house

in a thunderstorm

for over an hour.

She unlocked the door

daughter scared for her life

leaped into her arms.

She knew.

Dreaming

she saw her sister

sick and ill.

she woke up crying

two months later

the truth is revealed

about the tumor.

betwixt and between is rarely taught. Our mothers, our grandmothers are wound‐

At the doorway of the new moon we bring together two energies I call

the day force and the night force. These forces come together in support

of your life, they work in sacred partnership.

The day force is the realm of Nature, the concrete things you can hear,

feel, taste, smell and see. We witness this reality with our five senses. It

is the me of day when light is felt and seen on the planet earth. We are

comfortable in the day, we work and play.

The night force is that world behind your eyes–

the intui ve and the mys cal– the places

dreams are found. We use our four senses as

channels to receive divine guidance but in a

different way. I call these ways the ‘claires’:

Clairaudience or clear hearing– that s ll

small voice that is within you and around you.

Clairvoyant or clear seeing comes to you

through pictures, movies inside and outside your

head.

Clairsen ent or clear feeling means finding

your way with an emo on or a physical sensa‐

on– smell, a touch, a ghtened muscle.

Claircognizance or clear knowing means sud‐

denly knowing something for a fact without

knowing why or how you know.

In this work we journey outward and inward,

working the day and night forces. Something

magical happens, we manifest a dream, have a healing. O en mes I hear people

say “this is weird but’ they are describing the night force. If it is weird then know

you have entered that other realm. The night force is meless, and limitless.

The day and night forces must work together to keep you balanced and in sync with

life. Being too out there I lose my grounding. I am in chaos. I am not able to mani‐

fest my dreams. My life feels sca ered.

Being too grounded and not connected to the night force may be indicated by is‐

sues of control. This is s ll chaos, but in a different way. Think of a man locked into

his will. There is a fear of le ng go, because there is no apparent safety within the

structure of the person to trust the Universe. They have lost their Way.

Both the day force and the night must be met with love. Love heals. So if you are

more one way than another, just se le in, recognize how you do life and ask it to

shi with love. Call on your shamanic teachers—your

helping allies to guide and support you. Once you ask the

ques on, be ready to receive the answer.

Trust me, the answer will be revealed.

Don’t! Words may be great when crea ng a vision board to set a strong inten on; I

don’t find cutout words useful on my SoulCollage® cards because it limits the pow‐

er of the image that may change and shapeshi over me.

You may also create your collage digitally. Whatever medium seems right for you. I

do a combina on of both; I make cards, scan and then tweak the images.

Remember you don’t have to be an astrologer, know about astrology or be an

ar st to work with these concepts. Just play with it.

if we have issues with hiding, if people can’t find us, then how are we living our soul

purpose with passion and joy?

Claim your business self. Once you understand the connec on piece it’s easier to

build a viable business out in the world. Coaches request please stop calling what

you do “a prac ce’. Prac ce means you are learning…and yes we are always learn‐

ing and growing but I find the word limi ng to what your offer‐ your healership mor‐

phed into a business.

By not embracing the prac cal aspects of owning and running a business as a spirit‐

led entrepreneur it makes the energy wonky. Healers in business are solo‐

entrepreneurs. Your work is part of the New Economy.
