Headteacher’s Letter
July 2016
Dear Parent
This letter has been posted home to all parents of the coming Year 8 to Year 11. I take this
opportunity to welcome parents with pupils having recently joined us and look forward to working in
partnership with all parents in the next school year.
The following are also enclosed for your information:
Key Dates for Parents 2016-2017
School Uniform 2016-2017
Information on Easyfundraising.org.uk (see further details below)
Another very busy school year is now completed and I hope you have had an opportunity to read
my letter to parents last week (available on our school website: www.testvalley.hants.sch.uk)
celebrating some of our recent highlights. Our latest newsletter is also about to be published and
you can read more about the wonderful range of activities and experiences our pupils have been
involved in during the Summer Term. This can also be viewed or downloaded from our school
website or paper copies are available from reception or Pupil Services in school. My thanks, as
always, to all the staff who make so much of this possible through their commitment and hard work.
As I wrote in my last letter there are many changes to education coming into schools and we continue
to respond to the challenges these bring with the interests of our pupils always our priority.
Communication with Parents There continues to be three ways you can access further information or keep in regular contact with
us:
Many of our parents are now signed up to our email database rather than relying on their children
to bring all letters home. This will also ensure you receive my letters and the termly newsletter
notification by email. To do this you need to go to www.testvalley.hants.sch.uk, click onto ‘Our
School’ and then ‘Parent Contacts’, complete the required fields and press ‘make request’. An
acknowledgement will then appear on the screen.
The SIMS Learning Gateway provides access to information on your child’s progress including
their termly progress reports. To request an account please go to the school website,
www.testvalley.hants.sch.uk, scroll down and click “Request Access” under “SIMS Learning
Gateway”.
Parents can log on to Moodle (via the school website) to view the home learning tasks set. There
is also a link on the homepage of Moodle to request a parent account.

School Uniform A full list of our school uniform is attached to this letter and is also available on our school website.
If you type ‘school uniform’ into the main search bar on our home page you will find details and you
can download our uniform guide.
We thank you for your ongoing support in maintaining a high standard of uniform. We will, as always,
be checking pupils are in the correct uniform at the start of the Autumn Term. We endeavour to keep
our uniform simple and practical with no confusion regarding the styles of skirts and trousers
allowed.
School Lunch Service Please check the website during August for the latest menus and prices for September. We have been able to hold or reduce the prices on some items.
Easyfundraising.org.uk We have enclosed with this letter further information about how you can raise a free donation for the school whenever you shop online. There are now nearly 3000 retailers who will donate a percentage of the amount you spend to our school to say thank you for shopping with them. It is really easy to register, does not cost you anything and there are no hidden charges. It does, however, provide a fantastic opportunity for the school to raise additional funds we can use to buy resources and equipment to support your child’s learning at school.
GCSE Results We look forward to welcoming Year 11 pupils back to school on Thursday August 25th from 10am until 11am to receive their examination results. Year 10 can also collect any GCSE results they are expecting between 11am and 12noon.
Final Remarks Finally, I would like to thank parents for your continued support over the course of this year. I wish you all a safe and happy holiday and look forward to welcoming pupils back in September: Tuesday September 6th at 8.50am for our new Year 7 pupils and Wednesday September 7th at 8.50am for all other pupils. Yours sincerely
L. Hiscock (Miss) Headteacher
