‘Striving to be the best version of ourselves’
Photo of the week – Our Head Mental Health Ambassadors for T3 and T4.
Born in a Barn I was incredibly impressed with the children in KS1 on both Monday
and Wednesday following their Nativity performances. The production was well organised, well-rehearsed and superbly executed. The
children spoke with confidence and sang beautifully.
The children told the story of the birth of Jesus from the point of view of the animals in the stable in Bethlehem. There were some very
funny moments as well as some very touching ones.
I would like to thank Miss Kelly, Miss Smith and Miss Andrews for their
hard work in facilitating this wonderful experience for the children. Also, a huge thanks goes to all of the support staff who have created
costumes, prepared props, photocopied lines/song words and supported the children during the performance.
A great team effort!

Elf Wrapping Room We would like to say a huge thankyou to the members of the Friends who gave up their time to run the Elf wrapping room.
All of the children across the school had the opportunity to visit the elf’s workshop, choose a gift for a loved one and have it
wrapped. It is a lovely way for the children to be able to give their parents/siblings/grandparents a gift they have chosen
themselves. The Elf Wrapping room this year, raised an incredible
£250.00 Thank you to all who participated.
KS2 Christmas Parties
For the KS2 Christmas parties, Willow and Beech teamed up to play party games, enjoy some part food and generally have a good time! Maple and Oak Class did the same. It is a lovely
opportunity for the classes to mix and for the children to let their hair down in this very busy run up to Christmas.

Thought of the week
‘If you see someone without a smile this
Christmas, give them one of yours.’
Story Telling at SBL Pupils from Maple and Oak Class were invited to Sir Bernard
Lovell secondary school this week for their story telling session. The children had a treasure hunt around the school to find
Santa’s reindeers, listened to Christmas stories told by Year 11 pupils and finished off with a concert, where many of our past
pupils performed.
It was great!
We are working hard to continue to strengthen our links with SBL and
are hopeful for many more opportunities in the coming months.

Mental Health Ambassadors The Mental Health team launched our Mental Health
Ambassadors this week during a whole school assembly. The role was open to pupils from Year 5 and Year 6. Those
interested needed to apply and take part in a short interview to share why they wanted to be an ambassador in school and what skills they thought they possessed in order to support
and guide their peers. Miss Roberts and Mrs Williams were so impressed with all of the children, it was agreed that all 36 applicants would have a
chance to fulfil the role over the next 4 terms on a rota system. Five children however, have been selected to be Head
ambassadors for terms 3 and 4. Congratulations and well done to those pupils from Maple and
Oak Class – super role models!

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
Let it Snow! We would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Williams
(parent), who entered a competition with Party Peeps and won us a snow machine for the end of school last Friday. The children had a great time – it was a lovely surprise! Carols by Candlelight
In KS2 the children performed a short Carol service for their friends and family after school on Thursday. Due to the relentless rain, the performance took place in the school hall, which had been decorated in sparkly fairy lights. The children sang a range of
traditional carols along with a few modern ones!
Well done to all of the children who stayed behind after school to join in. You all sang beautifully!
We would like to thank the Friends who provided refreshments for our audience on Thursday – that was a nice touch!
Christmas Cards – Friends project
The Friends have asked me to send their apologies to any families who have not received their complete order before the end of the term. Mrs Woodruff will ensure that those parents who have not received their Christmas gifts will receive a full refund.
We would like to say a huge thankyou to all of you who ordered Christmas cards.
The project this year raised a fantastic £120.00 for the school.
