Martin's sunning himself in France
and he's asked me to organise and
run the Digital Group on Thursday,
18th August.
The evening will be in two sec-
tions. I'll run through several of
the artistic methods I use to pro-
duce painterly images. This will
include both manual methods and
plug-ins.
The session will also feature imag-
es from members including those
about which advice and ideas are
sought. I'll be offering suggestions
and demonstrations to help every-
one.

Next Week
Digital Group
We meet NEXT week on Thurs-
day, 18th August at 7.30pm at the
Claines Royal British Legion,
Cornmeadow Lane, Worcester
WR3 7RL. See details above.
Until now photo trips have been
publicised by word of mouth, email
or newsletter and it is very easy to
miss an opportunity. Now these can
be published directly on the mem-
bers' area of the website. They are
called ad hoc Events
These photo-trips will always be
available for review in a single
place. Less chance of missed oppor-
tunities. No scrabbling about to find
an email, or phoning the organiser
to check on times and dates.
Any member may publish such an
event. Members can subscribe toeach event so everyone can see who
is interested in attending - an aid to
car sharing.

Alan Yeates writes:- It is generally accepted that display equipment, monitors and projectors, should be calibrated
regularly, so the display profile reproduces accurate colour.
Our club policy is to profile the projectors during the summer break. Richard Wood, Douglas Gregor, Paul Dewdney, and
Alan Yeates spent two and a half hours last week calibrating the projectors using the Spyder3 equipment.
This entailed setting up Bishop Allenby hall as dark as possible, as for a normal club night. Although the process is
automated using the Spyder software, each projector was profiled 2 or 3 times to ensure consistency. A set of standard
images from Kodak, courtesy of Richard, was used to check the results.
(Just one of the many ‘invisible’ & invaluable jobs undertaken by the technical team for the Club, thank you! Ed.)

Ironbridge is one of my favourite locations; the river is always different, (last week very low, you could almost paddle in the middle), the bridge is always
interesting, and there's a great tea room. I had a play with infra-red, one of the attached is a 20-second IR exposure, works quite well I think. As well as the
IR and IR pano, there's a colour pano and a mono version. I hadn't used filters with IR in the past, however with a couple of hours to kill I had time to
experiment, and I like the water at 20 seconds, smoothes out the wind ripples.
These were taken with a Nikon D80 ir conversion, a Fuji XT 1 and a Nikon D800 for good measure. What do you think? Les Bailey
