To implement the standard policy and procedure of ER. 3. To direct and supervise functions and activities in ER. POLICY 1. Must possess a certificate in Bachelor of Science in Nursing and passed the licensure examination. 2. Must have a five years experience in critical care unit. 3. Must have a certificate in nursing management as well as sufficient clinical experience with proven managerial skills. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Organize and direct functions and activities in ER. 2. Interpret and implement established policies, procedures, regulations to personnel patients, medical staff and public. 3. Utilize personnel efficiently and assure cost effective utilization of supplies and equipment. 4. Provide a clean, orderly, safe and quiet environment. 5. Assure adequate quantities of supplies and properly functioning equipment. 6. Demonstrate care and safety measures and procedures. 7. Evaluate area performance and effect changes as needed to improve services. 8. Direct and supervise personnel and students. 9. Design duties and orient, train, instruct personnel and may participate in in-service education. 10. Evaluate work performance, masked recommendation to supervisor for personnel action such as merit, promotions, transfers and disciplinary action. 11. Maintain good employer relations and solve problems and grievances. 12. Maintain personnel records for emergency personnel. 13. Provide counsel and guidance to the staff. standard and take corrective action when violations occur.

15. Maintain patient rights and compliance with hospital communication code.16. Assure maintenance of medical records and confidential treatment of patient

information.17. Analyze area needs, study new trends and development and offer

recommendation to nursing administration.18. Establish and maintain free communication between administration, emergency

department staff, physicians and ambulance service.19. Make assignments, give instructions, arrange for breaks.20. Reports staff shortages to supervisors and adjust work schedule accordingly.21. In emergency cases:

Set up and prepare instruments, supplies, equipment and drugs as needed and

assist physician in treating the patient.

Administer prescribed medications and perform prescribed treatments.

Complete emergency case records.Write changes and discharge patient or process in-patient admission and transfer patient with records to assigned nursing unit.

22. Maintain good interdepartmental relation, public relation.23. Direct care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.24. Check narcotics and comply with regulations concerning use and storage.25. Maintain emergency logs and other required records, reports, statistics for

administrative purpose.26. Maintain established hospital policies, procedure, objectives, quality assurance,

safety and environmental and infection control.27. Maintain adequate reference material for use by nursing staff.28. Conduct staff meetings, attend required meetings and participate on committees

as directed.29. Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops,

professional affiliation, and encourage subordinate staff to participate in educational programs.
