The LSR takes feedback from student reps and then actively works to represent student views at senior level forums with the College. The LSR also leads of developing opportunities to enhance the student experience. You can contact the LSR by emailing [email protected]. Or if you would like more information about becoming the LSR please email [email protected] Student Reps Each course is required to have a student representative who represents their cohort and expresses the feelings and opinions of both their peers and themselves in relation to how courses run and operate. Students have the opportunity to represent their programme in regular meetings with members of the Senior Management Team and relevant staff involved in the delivery and promotion of higher education at the College. It is your opportunity to voice the opinion of the students to staff, those who could implement changes and be involved in a two way discussion. Student Union Everyone enrolled at Bridgwater College becomes part of the Bridgwater College Student Union (BCSU), which plays a key role in college life (you can choose to opt out if you wish). The Union is run by an elected committee who organise social and fundraising events as well as making sure learners have a voice and it is heard. The Union encourages a diverse range of students to participate in these activities and strive to raise money for local and international charities. The BCSU is affiliated to the National Union of Students. This means that they have support from a national organisation to help with campaigns and student issues as well as giving you access to the NUS Extra discount card, which can be purchased from BCSU. This card entitles you to various discounts on high street shops, restaurants and online. If you would like one of these cards then please visit BCSU which is located next to the common room at the Bridgwater site. Issue 1 Jan 2015 Contents correct at time of publication

‘THE STUDENT VOICE’The impact of the student voice is significant upon improving the experience for students. For example due to student feedback improvements have been made to the student representative training and opportunities for social activities including a Christmas Ball for the first time in 2014 and the introduction of HE Student Conference in 2015. Plans are, largely due to the student voice, underway to provide a dedicated centre for HE students so they can study and learn together as a community.

Surveys As a HE student you will be asked by the College, University and external organisations responsible for quality in HE nationally, about your experiences. This is a key part of being a HE student as you have the opportunity to work in partnership with the College and University by giving feedback regularly. By doing so you can help improve the experience for yourself and others in the future.

We will ask you to complete relevant surveys including The National Student Survey (NSS), Bridgwater College’s HE Student Survey and those from the university to which you are affiliated (if applicable). All of the Staff here take feedback in to consideration, you can talk to your tutor by email or in meetings together but if you want to say something confidential you can also email [email protected] where all emails are treated with the up most confidentiality.
