Resurrection Sunday
“Satan knows your name but calls you by your sin. But God knows your sin but calls you
by your name.”
Ecclesiastes 7:1, A good name is better than fine perfume.
Exodus 3:4, So when the Lord saw that he
turned aside to look, God called to him from the
midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!”
And he said, “Here I am.”
I Samuel 3:8, And the Lord called Samuel again
the third time. So, he arose and went to Eli, and
said, “Here I am, for you did call me.”
To Israel - Isaiah 43:1, But now, thus says the
Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who
formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have
redeemed you; I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
To King Cyrus - Isaiah 45:4, For Jacob My
servant's sake, And Israel My elect, I have even
called you by your name; I have named you,
though you have not known Me.
Isaiah 49:15-16, Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely, they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.
Scripture Lesson:
John 20:11-16
John 20:11-16, But Mary stood outside by
the tomb weeping, and as she wept, she
stooped down and looked into the
tomb. And she saw two angels in white
sitting, one at the head and the other at the
feet, where the body of Jesus had
lain. Then they said to her, "Woman, why
are you weeping?" She said to them,
"Because they have taken away my Lord,
and I do not know where they have laid
Him."
John 10:3, And He calls His own sheep by name and leads
them out.
Now when she had said this, she turned
around and saw Jesus standing there, and did
not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her,
"Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are
you seeking?" She, supposing Him to be the
gardener, said to Him, "Sir, if You have carried
Him away, tell me where You have laid Him,
and I will take Him away." Jesus said to
her, "Mary!" She turned and said to Him,
"Rabboni!" (which is to say, Teacher).
“I would rather stand with God and be judged by the world
than stand with the world and be judged by God.”
Three Reasons We Might Give God To Help Us Hear Him Call
Our Names:
1. We Can Rise Early To Seek Him.Mary rose early to seek Jesus.
Psalm 63:1-8, O God, you are my God;
Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for
You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and
thirsty land Where there is no water. So, I
have looked for You in the sanctuary, to
see Your power and Your glory. Because
Your lovingkindness is better than life, my
lips shall praise You. Thus, I will bless You
while I live; I will lift my hands in Your
name.
My soul shall be satisfied as with
marrow and fatness, and my mouth
shall praise You with joyful lips. When
I remember You on my bed, I meditate
on You in the night watches. Because
You have been my help, therefore in
the shadow of Your wings I will
rejoice. My soul follows close behind
You; Your right hand upholds me.
Proverbs 8:17, Those that seek me
early shall find me.
Isaiah 30:15, For thus saith the Lord
GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In
returning and rest shall ye be saved;
in quietness and in confidence shall
be your strength.
The morning is the gateway to the day.
Psalm 5:3, My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in
the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee and will look
up.
“Most Christians don’t hear God’s voice because we have
already decided we are not going to do what he says.”
Three Reasons Early Morning Is Best:
Jesus Did It.Mark 1:35, Before daybreak the next
morning, Jesus got up and went out to
an isolated place to pray.
2. It is a Time to get
Instructions for the Day.Psalm 5:3, Listen to my voice in the morning
LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you
and wait expectantly.
3. It Helps Us Put One Step in
Front of the Other.Psalm 119:147, I rise early, before the sun is
up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words.
“Tears are prayers too. They travel to God when
we can’t speak.”
2. We Can Engage And Love
The Least. Mary Was More Than Willing to Engage the
Gardener.
Jesus lived a life that was practiced at seeing.
“A friend who understands your tears is more valuable
than a lot of friends who only know your smile.”
3. We Can Listen To God In Our Suffering.
Mary Was Suffering.
Grief and despair can so cloud the mind that it fails to see the
rays of truth and hope.
Psalm 119:92, If your Law had not been my delight, then I would have perished in my
affliction.
Psalm 30:5, Weeping may endure for a night, but joy
comes in the morning.
