Apostolic Christian Church. She grew up in Girard, Ohio and then

dairy farm. Later the family was involved in egg production and

lot of work! After retiring from animal farming, Mary Jane

enjoyed traveling for her son’s business, Sterling Fur, Inc. to conventions in nearby states.

Taking care of her family has always been a top priority and she would even sit on the floor to

play with the young children. She is known for her delicious scotch-a-roos and often received

requests to make them. We appreciate Mary Jane’s gentle presence in our home.

MDS Coordinator Karen Placke has worked at our home for

nearly two years after working at Westfield Insurance. Although

she wanted to be a nurse ever since she was young—even

volunteering as a candy striper, she did not pursue her career in

nursing until after her three children were grown. Karen

experienced helping others in a medical setting by serving on the

Wadsworth EMS for 18 years. Karen is married to Ken, a

concrete truck driver for Orrville Trucking and Grading. Three

grandchildren live in this area and five live in South Carolina.

When she previously enjoyed spare time, she taught ceramic

painting. She likes to read, cross-stitch, and garden. Karen says

she loves it here and enjoys her co-workers. While it may seem

overwhelming to think of Karen’s job of fulfilling the state

requirements for assessing patients for billing reimbursement,

we are grateful for her hard work.

Guess Who? Who is this employee? (Answer on back page)

Artist Betsy West enjoys coloring her

velvet art project. Her pictures are

displayed in the activity room along

with other residents’ works.

Early birds Yvonne Beery and Nellie

Hobell fold washcloths and benefit

72 Years of Marriage

Bill and Cordelia Boersma celebrated their

72nd wedding anniversary on March 20. Bill

first noticed Cordelia when she would walk

by his house to visit her sister. They spent

time seeing each other for two years before

they were married in her church. They are

thankful God blessed them with good health

so they can reach this special milestone.

Hallelujah! The Lord arose.

Our ransom now is paid.

The Son is victor over death,

Whoe’er believes is saved.
