Virginia Beach, Virginia (May, 26, 2017) - The 45' tall smiling ambassador of Ocean Breeze Waterpark has joined the ranks of celebrities who have been falsely reported about. Despite recently circulated coverage of his demise and charcoal-ed past, Hugh Mongous the gorilla is ready to greet waterpark guests this weekend. The typically silent park ambassador is outspoken about the reports. “I’ve been called a lot of things in my life: Harry, big monkey, Grape Ape, awesome, huge mongoose and that thing over there. But dumpster fire? Never. I prefer . . . “beacon of light.” In fact, legend has it that on the night in question there was a terrible storm. My illumination provided a humongous lighthouse effect that saved 17 ships from grounding themselves on the shores of Virginia Beach.” Hugh Mongous stands at the entrance of Ocean Breeze Waterpark on 849 General Booth Boulevard in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Water slides have been on the property since 1974 and Hugh Mongous was added to the attraction in the early 80's. He has survived the prick of arrows, the kiss of flame, lying in state in the parking lot, two makeovers and at least three times, the possibility of removal. He is now surrounded by a unique assortment of over 30 slides and attractions. He can celebrate one constant, guests of all ages love him.
