TYPICAL DROPDOWN OFF-GRID SITE(Kalahari Projects)These sites could expand to several solar structure modules and several containers.Dimensioning very much depends on:

* The load requirement* The battery autonomy required* Whether grid, wind turbines or generators are available* Sufficient space is available* Customer budget

TYPICAL DROPDOWN OFF-GRID SITEFor single container sites, the container is normally partitioned in 3 parts:

1. Equipment room2. Battery room3. Generator room

20ft or 40ft shipping containers are cladded with polystyrene and Chromadeck or Stainless steel depending on customer requirement.Outer Wall thicknesses are normally 80mm.Inner wall thicknesses are normally 50mm.

TYPICAL DROPDOWN OFF-GRID SITE OR OFFICEFor single container sites, the container is normally partitioned in 3 parts:

1. Equipment room2. Battery room3. Generator room

The drawings below shows the 40ft container version.Sometimes additional containers with battery banks are added for larger sites / offices.

TYPICAL GENERATOR ONLY SITECo-located BTS site with 16kW average customer load. 3 x 4kW average per phase Generator optimised system with SMC batteries are combined an run of a 65KVA Generator to allow for rapid charging.Since these batteries are 10 000 cycle batteries, with a very high charge acceptance rate, they are partially charged 3 timesper day for approximately 2.5hrs per cycle.During this time the site runs directly from the generator and the batteries are charged off-line at a rate of approximately 30%of their full capacity.Every 40th cycle, a full top of charge is done to reset the SOC calculators.
