HCAM REGISTRATION FORM

Welcome HCAM Members: I want to extend a personal invitation to this year’s HCAM Conference and Annual Meeting which is going to be held September 11 – 13 at Breezy Point Resort in Breezy Point, Minnesota. The Annual Conference committee has been working hard since last October to put together a fun and educational conference for our members. Our theme this year is “Putting on the Glitz”. We came up with this theme as we want to portray that volunteers are a class act and add bling to the facilities that they serve.

About this bookletIn this booklet you will find details about the conference including schedule of events, speakers, registration and accommodations. Workshop sessions are color coded according to the day-of-the-week and numbered continuously. On the registration form you will be able to select the days you wish to attend and the workshops and events in which you are interested. Your chosen session numbers will be designated on your name tag when you come to the conference. Workshop descriptions are included and color coded for added convenience. Please note, you are only able to attend on workshop per time block.

Pre-ConferenceThis year’s pre conference is intended for paid staff who supervise volunteers. Wendy Biro-Pollard will be giving a preconference and then a keynote. The pre-conference will consist of information which will be targeting those who manage volunteers.

Toot Your Own Horn (Auxiliary Fair)Please bring a created display highlighting your auxiliary/volunteer groups successes. Perhaps you have developed a unique volunteer position to help your facility, a successful fundraiser or a great educational opportunity so “Toot Your Own Horn”! Dispolay may include photos, samples of written materials (brochures, invitations, booklets) and other materials. Displays will be open for viewing on Wednesday and Thursday. Please check at Registration for information where and when this will be available.

I invite you to the Awards Banquet on Thursday and encourage you to dress in your finest,if you so desire. As our volunteer programs are all a success, let’s celebrate your successes, being a volunteer and dress in your fanciest/blingiest/outrageous outfit you have. I am excited to spend three days with you. See you there!

SPEAKER BIO | Wendy Biro-Pollard THURSDAY WORKSHOP SESSIONS

SEPTEMBER 11PRE-CONFERENCE SESSION (LUNCH INCLUDED) | NOON–2PM | Fee $50(Intended for paid staff who supervise volunteers)Reinventing Volunteer ServicePresenter: Wendy Biro-PollardVolunteer Management expert Steve McCurley said that, “In times of competing resources, volunteer managers need to be able to demonstrate their value.” You’ll be invited to the table when you can solve real problems or can demonstrate that volunteer activities impact your hospital’s mandates and strategic goals. This session will provide participants with a variety of strategies for acquiring power and building competencies.

KEYNOTE SESSION | 3–4PMBuilding Strong Organizations - Finding New Members and Dedicated LeadersPresenter: Wendy Biro-PollardThe way people volunteer has changed tremendously over the years. In the 1950s, when many auxiliaries were formed, the volunteer and board leadership model was based on utilizing people who had abundant time. In today’s world, successful health care volunteer organizations have learned that you can’t attract members and leaders by simply putting new window dressing on the same old programs and processes. You have to reinvent your organization!
