Hello all, I hope this semester has been fun for everybodyso far. We in the HCA have been working hard these last fewmonths to provide residents with new amenities and a vari-ety of programming. The stress of midterms has gone andpassed, and now we are approaching another dark time - fi-nals! Do not fear, this almost means that we are approach-ing the winter holidays and some of us can go home to seeour families and all of us can enjoy those few weeks of noschool.

In this issue: Loads and loads of pictures, and less com-mentary than usual. December is a hectic time, and we areall working hard to do well on our exams. But there is aspecial treat at the end, where we show you the Presidentsspecial side project that you may have seen if youve been to

the fitness room in the Vault lately. It is called hydroponics, and this edition shows the planning and setup stages of cre-ating this unique hanging garden.

This is a very hectic and transitional time in the HCA butexciting things are happening for everyone! Keep an eye outon our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/hublife), or ourwebsite (www.hublife.ca), for any exciting events (maybe aski trip!) Anything else, you can email me at [email protected].

    HYDROPONICS

Hi everyone! My name is Dylan and unfortunately I am not a resident of HUB Mall, but after the proje

and seeing the things that the HUB Community Association does, I wish I was! Myself, Yi-Yang and Keitall had a ton of fun building the hydroponic hanging garden that you now can nd in the exercise room

in The Vault. Hopefully all residents will be able to enjoy the plants that are growing in the garden and

hope that you will try and grow your own plants in the garden. The garden is very low-maintenance, a

there is an air pump that pushes water up to the top of the hanging structure and hydroponic solutio

simply trickles down from the top down to every plant. All plants are in volcanic rocks and there is n

soil whatsoever in the system. I thoroughly enjoyed the project and I hope you will be able to make th

garden larger and make it even more successful.

    Cheers,

    Dylan
