HBF Product Selection GuidanceAs of April 2019, HBF products can meet the Safer Chemicals Challenge of the Healthier Hospitals Healthy Interiors Goal version 2.0 (November 2015) by using the following guidance. Customer choice plays an important role in avoiding undesired chemicals and treatments. Furniture and options specified must meet all criteria below.

1. Formaldehyde*

HBF furniture that is Indoor Advantage(TM) Gold certified qualifies. Exclusions, if applicable,are listed on each certificate which is publicly available on the SCS Global Services Website:https://www.scsglobalservices.com/certified-green-products-guide

2. Perfluorinated Compounds (PFCs)*

PFC-free fabrics are available. Customers are responsible for the COM fabric treatmentsand chemical contents.

3. Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)*

Conference: some small parts, electrical casings and some non-work surface edges maycontain PVC in an amount less than 1% of the total product weight. Non-PVC edge bandingis available for laminate work surfaces. Veneered work surfaces are PVC free.

For seating products, PVC based Vinyl upholstery fabrics must be avoided.

4. Antimicrobials*

Antimicrobial-free fabrics are available. Customers are responsible for the COM fabrictreatments and chemical contents.

5. Flame Retardants*

All product lines can meet the HH requirements unless specifically ordered to meet CAL133and the City of Boston fire code. Some fabrics may contain flame retardants, so customersmust select flame retardant free fabrics. Some Vinyl upholstery, polyurethanes, and somehigh-performance textiles must be avoided. Customers are responsible for the COM fabrictreatments and chemical contents.

*Please note that it is not feasible to provide laboratory testing data of product and materials. HBF has worked with our suppliers to

determine whether the chemicals and treatments listed are not included in products above the guideline threshold limits unless specifically ordered by the customer. Customers are responsible for the chemical treatments and content of COM fabrics.

HBF reserves the right to change materials without notice but will continue to pursue product offerings which meet the criteria outlined in the Safer Chemicals Challenge. Please confirm conformance to Healthy Interiors 2.0 goal at time of specification.
