Mission of USA Cycling.

Concerns

Tour of Utah => UCI 2.1Tour of Elk Grove => UCI 2.1

UCI races are great and are needed but the ability for teams like ours to get into high level races like Univest and Battenkill is also important for the development of the next generation, especially for riders that are racing age 23-26.

Our Mission Statement.

It’s Our Job to prepare young riders for the next step:

• Act like a Professional on and off the bike. The way you talk, the way you organize, the way you eat, the way you plan and prepare, the way you keep your bike and clothing, etc. All of this matters!

• Send riders to all kinds of races in order for them to learn from these experiences rather than chase NRC/NCC points.

• Have a sustainable program that has a proven track record.

Page 9: HB SLC 2011

How do we define success?

• Graduate at least one rider to the professional ranks.

• Continually identify and develop the next generation of riders.

Director Testimonials

“Hagens Berman is one of a select few elite amateur teams in North America from which we look to recruit. Their program has been around for a very long time and consistently graduates riders into the pro ranks. The riders who make that jump are ready because they have been given the time and resources to develop fully in a positive environment with good guidance. The Hagen Berman program is an integral part of the development pipeline here in America.”  -Jonas Carney, Director, Kelly Benefit Strategies – Optum Health Pro Cycling Team "The Hagens Berman Cycling Team crucially fills a need in the competitive cycling community. They are consistently the best amateur team at the open races and the riders race with an accountability and responsibility lacking in even some professional teams. It's no wonder this program graduates more riders to the professional ranks than any other. Simply, their riders have the talent and experience to contribute straight away due to their invaluable apprenticeship acquired at Hagens Berman."  -Gord Fraser, Director, RealCyclist.com Pro Cycling Team "Hagens Berman was instrumental in my development as a professional rider. They helped develop my physical talents as well as shaping my personal character. Now as a director for BISSELL Pro Cycling I look for riders who have had similar experiences and are prepared to be in a team environment. Hagens Berman gives young bike racers the skills and experiences to be part of a winning team."  -Omer Kem, Director, BISSELL Pro Cycling Team and Hagens Berman alumni
