Getting to Know Kayilu Pfoze, Chancel Choir Member

~ Announcements for October 08, 2017 ~

Every Sunday, we will be looking for readers, who will assist in worship by

reading the weekly scripture reading, before the sermon. If you would like to participate

and serve, please sign-up by emailing [email protected] or calling the

church office at 04-872-9613.

Friends, we are trying to gauge interest in Baby Boomers ministry here at Haygood UMC. This would give adults the opportunity to spend time together at various venues and events such as dinners, museum visits, and other social outings. We feel this will be a great way for our Baby Boomer crowd to interact with one another and engage in our community. Please find a survey to fill out or visit www.haygoodumc.org and click the Baby Boomers survey banner to take the very short online survey. It should take no more than 2 minutes. We look forward to seeing what you have to say. For more information, contact Ashley Brookins, [email protected].

I was born in Song Song Village, Manipur state, India. I’ve lived all my life in India. I got opportunities to visit Thailand and work with Karen refugees for a month in summer of 2015 and a short-term training in conflict transformation in the Philippines in February 2016. I am the eldest in my family of six children. My dad is Assistant Pastor in my local church and my Mom is a teacher in a primary school. I come from a humble background. I did my Master of Divinity (M.Div) at Oriental Theological Seminary, India My undergrad major was also in Theology. I decided to study theology from my college days to become a church minister one day. With lot of struggle I came to Candler School of Theology to further equipped myself with the Word of God. This journey has been an intense process of reflection of God’s faithfulness and grace in my life. For me this is a journey of walking with God and being in his presence. While I was serving as Youth Pastor at Song Song

Christian Revival Church I took interest in singing. I found that music ministry is a very powerful instrument of reaching out to people both within the church and outside the church. I have organized music workshop and worship through music programs to convey the message of the gospel through music. During my M.Div studies I was a member of my college choir that also solidified my convic-tion about music ministry. So, although I am not a singer as such I try to be a part of music ministry of the church as much as I can. I enjoy playing guitar, badminton and soccer. I like to play piano sometimes with the basic formal training I received. Thank you for allowing me to share my story.

@HaygoodUMC

Every 66 seconds another person is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and must have care. Another family is thrown into chaos having been given little or no instruction in providing that care. Today, four out of five of those families fracture under the stress of caring for a family member who lives with Alzheimer’s or related dementias. How do you minister to these families?

Join Due West UMC, in Marietta, GA for a free workshop on October 12th, from 9:00am-12:00pm, on this important topic. There will be guest speakers to educate attendees on this subject. For more information or to carpool from Haygood UMC at 8:00am, on October 12th, please contact Wally Rice at 404-277-4588 or [email protected].

Confirmation is an incredibly meaningful process within the life of Haygood. Our 8th grade students journey through weekly learning experiences, field trips, service projects, and a retreat in preparation for saying an authentic yes to life as a United Methodist follower of Jesus. Registration is now open! Parents of all 8th grade students are invited to register their child for Confirmation 2017-18 by visiting Haygood’s website and following the Confirmation link. Confirmation begins on October 22nd! There will be a parent meeting next Sunday, October 15th. For more information or if you have any questions, feel free to see or email Taylor Kaiser, [email protected].
