Our success as the 2nd largest school district in Georgia is evidenced through our students, and we help them maximize their learning potential through a firm commitment to hiring quality teachers, engaging our families, and partnering with our community.

In Cobb our students outpace their peers across the

nation on standardized tests, many of our schools

are state and national schools of excellence, and

our graduation rate of 84% is one of the highest in

country. We offer a variety of opportunities for

students and you’ll find it all on our website.

At Hayes Elementary…great happens here! We are super excited about the numerous opportunities that this year will bring. As a spirit of excitement and great expectation fills the air, our teachers, staff, PTSA and Partners in Education have synergized to ensure that this year will be the best ever. As you thumb through the pages of this calendar, you can see that we have a very exciting year in store for all, so I encourage you to mark your personal calendars and get on board with us.

With increased parental involvement and strong community partnerships, we continue to move in the right direction. We remain committed to the vision and mission of Hayes.

VISION: Working Together to Ensure Success for All

MISSION: Developing Future Leaders to Impact Community and Global Change

As the year progresses, expect that you will be invited to become actively involved in all that we do here. Look for educational experiences, programs and activities that will help develop your children -- our students -- into young leaders who will take charge of their lives with confidence. The Hayes Elementary staff promises to do our very best to ensure that each student has a motivating, challenging and safe learning experience during the 2014 - 2015 school year. By the end of this school year, students will achieve academically, but will also build character and leadership skills that will help them beyond school walls and set them apart from their peers outside of Hayes.

Parents, please get involved and be involved in your child’s education. This can be achieved by participating in two-way communication with the school; by joining and supporting our wonderful PTSA; by volunteering as a school helper or as a classroom helper; by being a Watch D.O.G.; or by attending events and activities at Hayes. We also offer opportunities for involvement through our Student, Family, and Community Involvement Committee. Choose one, and choose to make a difference!

It is both an honor and a pleasure to serve as principal of Hayes Elementary School. I recognize that educating your children is a privilege and an awesome responsibility. I thank each of you for the opportunity. Feel free to call on me as we continue “Working Together to Ensure Success for All.”

Looking forward to a great year,

Teressa R. Watson

Teacher of the Year!!!!

Reyna Barden

I am honored to represent Hayes as Teacher of the Year for 2014-2015. I have

worked at Hayes for 8 years teaching 4th grade and now 2nd grade. I truly love

working with the second graders and the awesome teachers. My goal is that I reach

every student and guide them to their highest potential. I believe all students can

learn when challenged and given the proper environment.

I love Hayes and the community and look forward to another wonderful school year

working with the student, parents, and teachers.

Hayes is a great place to work. I am very fortunate to work with some of the best

teachers in Cobb.

Thank you Hayes faculty and staff.

Dear Hayes Family and Friends,

On behalf of the Hayes Elementary PTSA Officers, we would like to welcome you all back to school as we

prepare for a truly great 2014 – 2015 school year!

Our administration and educators have many exciting new things planned for the upcoming year and are looking

forward to continued success with our Leader in Me program. Our wonderful Partners in Education will be more

involved than ever supporting our kids and families at Hayes. Lastly, our PTSA officers are committed to

providing support for each parent, teacher and student at Hayes – but we need your help!

The #1 reason to join our PTSA and get involved is to support your child! Any contribution you make to Hayes,

no matter how large or small, is vital to the success of your student. Here are some other reasons to join PTSA

and lend a helping hand:

Get Connected. There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.

Tap into a Network. Parenting is not easy—it helps to share ideas, concerns and experiences with other

parents and educators in the community. PTA functions are great opportunities to meet other parents and

members of your community.

Watch Yourself Grow. By volunteering with your PTA, you gain valuable experiences. It’s an opportunity to put

your skills and hobbies to good use for a good cause

Witness Improvement. By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution.

By working together, we can all impact positive growth in our kids, our school and in our community! The PTSA

officers welcome your input at any time and we appreciate new ideas and suggestions. We look forward to

hearing from you!

Warm Regards,

Lea Tatum and Linda White

Why Join the PTA/PTSA

What is PTA? Why join PTA? The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. But there are many more PTA advantages:

Get Connected. There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.

Discover Great Resources. The PTA offers a variety of programs designed for parents as well as students.

Tap into a Network. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. You an share ideas, concerns, and experiences.

Watch Yourself Grow. By volunteering with your PTA, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a noble cause—your child and all children in the community.

Speak Up. PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.

Witness Improvement. By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Local PTAs play an important role in fundraising to provide building improvements, curriculum-based programs, and social events.

Be a Role Model. By becoming a PTA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.

Enjoy Substantial Benefits. Individuals and local units can take advantage of a host of benefits from PTA membership including discounts and offers from member benefits providers and sponsors, magazine subscriptions, leadership training, e-newsletters and much more.

For less than 3 cents a day, you can become a PTA member, joining more

than 5 million other people who share your interest in issues affecting

children. Everyone—parents, educators, students and other citizens active

in their schools and communities—is invited to join our not-for-profit

parent association.

PTSA Annual Student Educational Programs

Reflections 2014-2015 Theme:

“The world would be a better place

if…” The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. The program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme, while increasing community awareness on the importance of the arts in education. Participation in the Reflections Program a great way for students to explore and learn about various art forms. Creating art is a valuable learning process that challenges students to use their critical thinking skills as well as their creative talents. Reflections packets are sent home with students in the fall. All participants will be invited to the awards ceremony in November. Local school winners go on to be judged at the council level, then possibly on to district/state and national levels.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION is taught to all children. Kindergarten through second grade is taught movement education, special awareness, and social interaction through low level games and activities. Third through fifth grades are taught intermediate/advanced skills, which are incorporated into team sports (soccer, basketball, bowling, etc). High-level games and activities are also used to incorporate lifelong guidelines.

THE MUSIC PROGRAM is a child-centered program designed with sequenced and thematic activities that build musical concepts and skills.

Familiar songs the children love to sing

Themes that connect to real life experiences

Appealing music that celebrates traditional American Heritage and reflects cultural diversity

A fully integrated curriculum across all content areas including phonics reinforcement and related literature

Related arts and movement throughout the lessons

Flexible and authentic assessment strategies

Integrated music technology that motivates and inspires

Lessons that reinforce the National Music Standards

THE ART PROGRAM - The main objective of the art program is to expose students to the basic principles of design – line, shape, form, color, texture, and pattern. The overall emphasis is creativity. Each grade level will explore these concepts through drawing, painting, sculpting, collage and printmaking. Student artwork is displayed in the hallways continually throughout the school year. Students will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

Artistic style/performance, following directions, conduct, respect for supplies, and originality.

RESPONSE TO INTERVENTION (RTI) The function of the RTI Team is to review and consider all available information about individual students who are having behavioral or academic difficulty in school and to discuss and recommend alternative instructional strategies to that student’s teacher. The RTI is composed of the classroom teacher, administrators, school psychologist, ILT, counselor, special education teacher, and other staff. SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES provide assistance to students who have been identified as: speech/language disordered, learning disabled, behavior disordered, orthopedically impaired. An individual educational plan (IEP) is developed for each identified student. Services are provided based on the IEP and the needs of the student.

SCHOOL COUNSELORS provide a developmental and proactive guidance program for all students. The counselors help students to know, understand, and accept themselves and others, and to become responsible for their own choices and actions through individual and group counseling and classroom guidance instructions. The counselors consult confidentially with teachers, parents, and other resources in the community and make referrals as needed. School counselors also serve as facilitators of the Student Support Team.

SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER works with students addressing concerns such as attendance and provides assistance to parents, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel in understanding student needs.

SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST administers appropriate psychological tests when appropriate and forms have been signed by parent(s), and evaluates and interprets the results of such tests to teachers, administrators, and parents. In addition, the psychologist works with the student support team in developing educational plans for students.

PARENTS AND VISITORS TO HAYES PARENTS AND VISITORS TO HAYES All parents and visitors are required by the Cobb County Board of Education to register in the school’s office. The sign-in sheet is located in the front office. ALL VISITORS and PARENTS must wear a visitor’s badge when in the school. The safety of our children is our first priority. Please adhere to these regulations. We ask that you not interrupt class/instruction time to speak with the teacher or drop off items. Leave items marked with student and teacher names in front office and they will be delivered to the room. If you need to speak with the teacher, please leave a note and he/she will call you.

ABSENCES When children are absent we must receive a written excuse. Write a note to your child’s homeroom teacher explaining the reason for your child’s absence from school. Include your child’s name, date of absence, reason for absence and the parent signature. Your child must have this note when returning to school. If your child leaves school before 11:15 a.m. he/she will be marked absent for the day. If we do not receive a written excuse within 3 days of the date of the absence, the absence will be considered unexcused. AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM (ASP) Our school offers an optional After School Program. The prepay program operates each school day beginning at 2:30 p.m. The cost of this program for each child is a one time registration fee of $10.00 and $35.00 per week or $7.00 per day. Additional information is available upon request. If your child is not picked up from afternoon dismissal by 2:40 p.m., he/she will be placed in ASP and the parent will charged appropriately. This is for your child’s safety. Should you be in arrears by two days, you will be notified and your child may not stay until all fees are paid in full. ATTENDANCE The law requires regular school attendance for all children between the ages of seven and sixteen. Regular attendance means actual attendance of a pupil during the entire day of school. We solicit your cooperation in planning appointments that will not interrupt school hours. Perfect attendance awards are given each semester to students who have had no absences, tardies or early leaves near the end of day. Superior attendance awards are given at the end of the school year to students who have had perfect attendance all year. BUS RIDERS Children who ride the buses are to ride only the bus to which they have been assigned and must board the bus and depart at their assigned stops. In order for a student to ride another bus (only in the event of an emergency) parents must write a note to the child’s homeroom teacher, explaining with whom he/she is to ride and on which bus. A school employee must sign the note and then the child should give it to his or her driver. CAR RIDERS If a child is transported by car (morning and afternoon), please drive in front of the building. Children may not be dropped off at school before 7:15 a.m. Staff members are on duty to monitor student safety in this area from 7:15 until 7:45 a.m. Please do not allow your child to get out of the car in any area other than the one designated as the car rider drop off as this could be very dangerous for your child. Please follow directions of the staff members to pick up your child. If a child is not picked up in the car rider line by 2:40 p.m., the child will be taken to the After School Program and the charge will be $7.00 plus the one time registration fee of $10, if not already registered. CLOSING SCHOOL DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER When the Cobb County School System is going to be closed because of inclement weather, the decision for closing schools must be made and given to the radio and television stations by 6:00 a.m. Most metro area radio stations will announce school closures right after the headlines on the hour and immediately following the weather. Please plan on having your children at school unless you have heard that all Cobb County Schools have been closed. Please DO NOT call the school office, as all phones lines must be used for emergencies.re

CUSTODY OF CHILDREN School personnel are bound by the law to release children to either of their natural parents unless we have on file a copy of a court order which grants sole custody to one parent or the other or to a third party. If you are divorced or separated and the court has awarded the custody of your children to you, a complete copy of the court order MUST be on file in our office.

DRESS All elementary students may wear appropriate shorts, which are fingertip length, and are non-disruptive to the education process. Shorts must come down to the fingertips when arms are straight at the side. Clothing or ornamentation displaying or advertising substances illegal for minors is prohibited. Tank tops or tops with thin straps must not be worn. Clothes that expose the midriff or back are prohibited. Hats may not be worn. No tennis shoes with roller blade wheels attached may be worn. Flip flops are prohibited. Sneakers must be worn on PE days.

EARLY DISMISSAL Should there be an emergency and you need to pick up your child, come by the school office. DO NOT go directly to the classroom, cafeteria or playground for a student. If for any reason you will be picking up your child before school is out, please write a note to your child’s home room teacher indicating the time you will pick them up. If the student returns before the end of the day, sign him/her back in at the office. To minimize classroom interruptions we will not call for students between 1:45-2:30 p.m.

DISMISSAL/TRANSPORTATION CHANGES Please let the teacher know how your child will go home on a regular basis throughout the school year. If you need to change the way your child goes home a specific day or permanently, you MUST send a note. If a change is for a specific day, the note must come with the child in the morning or the parent must bring it in during the day. This procedure insures the safety and security of your child. No transportation changes can be made after 1:45pm.

ENTRANCE AGE The entrance age requirement for first year students is that the child must be six on or before September 1. An official birth certificate must be presented at the school as proof of age. A State Law allows students coming from an out-of-state school to attend first year if: (1) they will be six by December 31, (2) have spent a year in a certified kindergarten, (3) have not lived in Georgia for the two years prior to entering first year of school.

CELL PHONES

Cell phones are not to be seen or used during the regular school day as defined in the Cobb County Elementary Code—J ll Paragraph F Subsection 1: PERSONAL

COMMUNICATIONS/ELECTRONIC DEVICES: 1. Students shall not use, display, or turn on communication beepers, cellular phones, video phones, or electronic devices during the

regular school day, including instructional class time, class change time, recess periods, breakfast or lunch. No such devices may be used at any time on school-operated vehicles,

including buses.

Any cell phones seen or used will be confiscated and returned to a parent only during regular school hours.

FIELD TRIPS

Field trips at Hayes are an extension of the instructional program. Research has consistently shown that students learn both better and more by being exposed to the primary

resource through field trips. No student is ever denied these opportunities because of the inability or unwillingness of his parents/guardians to financially donate in support of those

activities. However, our field trips are funded through parent/guardian donation. If funds are insufficient to cover costs, the field trip will not be held.

HOMEWORK Homework is additional assignments assigned by the teacher to be completed at home that is meant to reinforce and review concepts and objectives currently being taught in the classroom. The purpose of homework is to help the child gain self-discipline, develop good work habits, enhance and extend his school experience and practice developing skills. It is recommended that a child be absent for at least 3 days before requesting homework from the teacher.

TAKE HOME FRIDAY A weekly classroom information/communication folder will be sent home each Friday with your child. It is very important that this folder is reviewed closely so that parents and families are aware of current activities in your child’s classroom and school.

ILLNESSES AND ACCIDENTS Our clinic is staffed by a registered nurse in order to treat minor cuts and bruises (only) and to administer prescription medication with a signed medical release form. It is important that you keep an updated telephone number on file in the office. If for any reason your home or work numbers change, please notify the office. If a child is significantly ill, parents will be contacted to pick up their child. Clinic space is very limited, so please make every effort to pick up your child promptly if you are notified that your child needs to leave school

The main reasons for keeping your child home from school are:

- if he’s too sick to be comfortable at school

- if he might spread a contagious disease to other children

As a rule of thumb, a child should stay home if there is:

- fever over 100 F. While you can treat the fever and usually make the child feel better temporarily, the cause of the fever (and the risk of passing it on to others) still exists. Children with fever should stay home until there is no fever for 24 hours.

- vomiting

- diarrhea

- very frequent cough

- persistent pain (ear, stomach, etc.)

Whenever there is doubt about sending your child to school, consult your child’s doctor first.

IMMUNIZATIONS Georgia law requires that every child initially entering school in Georgia must have an adequate certificate of immunization. This certificate (Georgia DHR form 3132) must be signed by a physician licensed under the laws of the State of Georgia or by a qualified employee of the Health Department of Georgia.

LOST AND FOUND We suggest that you tag or write your child’s name in clothing and book bags/lunch boxes he or she wears and brings to school. The school maintains a lost and found area. You may look over the collection any time. Unclaimed items will be taken to a local homeless shelter at the end of each month.

LUNCHES/BREAKFASTS A nutritious and attractive lunch is served daily at Hayes. Student lunches are $2.15 daily, adult lunches are $3.25 daily. Extra milk is .60 cents per carton as is fruit juice drink. Breakfast is served from 7:15-7:30 a.m. for $1.25. Hayes Elementary uses a computerized program in the cafeteria. Instead of tickets, students put money in their personal account established by the cafeteria manager. When they eat a meal, the cost will be deducted from their balance. Lunch charges will not be allowed. For up-to-date menu prices and program information you can look on the FNS website: www.cobbk12.ga.us/~foodsvcs. We welcome parents to join us for lunch. Please notify your child’s teacher if you plan to purchase a school lunch when you visit. Parents are not allowed to bring in restaurant food to student in the cafeteria. Students who bring lunch may not bring in canned or bottled soft drinks.

MEDICATION Medication, with the exception of inhalers, is NOT allowed in classrooms. Please do not request teachers to administer any type of medicine. Children who have chronic conditions may make arrangements to have medication administered in the clinic. This will require a notice from a physician that medication is necessary during school hours. A local school medication form must be completed for each child for inhalers and medication to be administered. Children are not allowed to bring medication to school (with the exception of inhalers). Medication must be brought by the parent/guardian in the original container and a medication form must be filled out. If the medication is pills, it must be counted in the presence of the school nurse or by the office personnel.

PARTIES Cobb Board of Education Policy stipulates that only one party is allowed per year. The party is held just prior to winter holidays. Please do not request parties at other times of the year. No other parties may occur throughout the year.

Info” , and then click on “Policies and Rules.” Click on Section “J-Students.” Find Administrative Rule JLCD (Student Welfare: Medication).

Click on the Form needed.

4. Why do I need a doctor's health care provider’s note for adult strength over-the-counter medication when my health care provider has told me

this is appropriate for my student’s weight (or condition)?

The School Nurse wants to protect your child and must follow guidelines for dosage recommended by the manufacturer.

5. How do students get their medications at the After School Program (ASP)?

The Principal, with input from the School Nurse, and the After School Program Director, will determine by whom and how medication will be

secured and administered at ASP.

6. Why do medications have to be in the original container?

The original container provides information from the manufacturer about over-the-counter medications, including the name of the medication, the

proper dose, how the medication should be given, how often the medication can be given, possible side effects, and when the

medication is no longer effective (an expiration date).

The original prescription container includes the name of the medication, the patient’s name, the prescribing licensed health care provider, the proper dose, how and when it should be given, how long the medication should be given, when the

medication expires, and the pharmacy where the medication was purchased. All of this information is necessary for the School Nurse to administer

Yes, students may carry inhalers and Epipens or insulin with a completed “Authorization to Carry Prescription Medication” Form JLCD-10 on

file in the clinic.

12. Why is there a place for the health care provider to sign the authorization form for my child to carry their inhaler/Epipen at school?

The health care provider’s signature indicates that your child has been instructed on the proper use of their inhaler/ Epipen and that your child

is responsible for administering it to himself/herself without supervision. The form can be faxed to the health care provider and then faxed

back to the School Nurse.

13. Why do I have to have a prescription label on the inhaler/Epipen?

15. If I give my child Tylenol for aches and pains can I still send them to school? child is welcome at school while taking Tylenol and any other over-the-counter medication for an injury, dental work, etc. However, if the medication is for a sore throat, earache or flu like symptoms, please keep them at home.

16. Why can’t I put medicine in my child’s lunch box if he/she has to take medicine at lunch?

Medication in a lunch box could be lost or taken by another child. If a staff member found the medication it could be considered an illegal drug with consequences according to the Code of Conduct. Medications must be brought to the front office or school clinic by parents/guardians in the original and properly labeled container.

17. If I treat my child for lice can I send them back to school the same day?

Yes. Please bring your child free of live lice back to the School Nurse to be rechecked.

18. Why do I have to bring in a box top to verify lice treatment? A box top from the product provides the School Nurse with the type of treatment that was used and confirms that treatment was provided for the child since a prescription is not necessary for treatment of head lice.

19. How much time do I have to get to the school if the nurse calls me to pick up my child because he's sick?

You, or a person you designate, should arrive within one hour of being called. Most school clinics have an area where your child can rest for a short period of time. You, or a person you designate, must arrive within 15 minutes if your child has a fever of 104 degrees F or higher. Otherwise, 911 will be called.

20. How long will my child’s over-the-counter medication be given at school?

21. What happens to my child’s medication at the end of the school year?

All medications not picked-up by parents/guardians by the last day of school will be destroyed.

22. May my child share over-the-counter medication with another student?

No! Students may not share any medication, whether over the counter or prescription, with others. Doing so could be a violation of the Student

Code of Conduct and could also result in the student losing his/her privilege of carrying medication on his/her person.

23. Why should my child take the first dose of new medication at home?

We want your student back to school as soon as possible after an illness, diagnosis or medication change. It is for the safety of your student that

you observe him/her for any unsuspected reactions to a new medication and report it to the prescribing licensed health care provider.

y debidamente etiquetado.

¡No!

SCHOOL BUS STATEMENT

Our goal is to provide each student that is eligible to ride the bus the most safe and sufficient means of transportation to our schools. We believe that students are citizens of Cobb County and have a right to a safe and comfortable trip to and from school. Along

with these rights are also responsibilities. Safety rules and regulations have been developed to assure all students eligible to ride the bus of their rights, but it is also their responsibility to follow these rules. When rules are broken, the privilege of riding the

bus will be interrupted. We encourage our parents to help instill the rules of conduct to bring about an atmosphere of respect and safety for one another.

SCHOOL BUS CONDUCT

The behavior of students on school buses is considered an extension of classroom behavior. Maintaining proper conduct while on the bus shall be the joint responsibility of the student, parent, bus driver and school officials. Students shall observe the following

code of conduct established by the Cobb County Public Schools.

1. Students must show proper respect to the driver at all times and obey all driver

instructions.

2. Large toys, insects, glass bottles, animals, plastic bags, straight or safety pins,

skateboards or objectionable and dangerous items are not permitted. 3. Tobacco, illegal drugs, alcohol and weapons or look alikes are prohibited. 4. Students will keep his/her arms and head inside the bus at all times.

5. Nothing is to be thrown in, out, or from the bus. 6. The use of obscene language or gestures is forbidden. 7. Destruction or defacing school property is prohibited. 8. Fighting or physical play is prohibited.

9. Unnecessary noise is prohibited. 10. Food, gum or drinks cannot be consumed on the bus.

11. Drivers are required to assign seats to elementary and middle school students. 12. Students must be seated at all times unless otherwise directed by the driver. 13. Students must be quiet at railroad crossings.

14. When crossing a street is necessary, students will wait for the driver to signal to cross the street and then cross in front the bus in full view of the driver.

15. Students may transport band instruments only if space is available. 16. The emergency door, windows and hatches are to used only at the direction of

the driver. 17. Students are to be at the bus stop five minutes prior to the scheduled time and

are to wait in an orderly manner. The bus is not considered late until five minutes past the schedule time.

18. Students may be allowed to ride the bus and to disembark at a bus stop other

than that assigned for their residence provided the parent/guardian submits the request in writing to the principal for approval.

19. Any other disruptive behavior will be referred to the principal as deemed

necessary to insure safe transportation or students.

TRANSPORTATION CHANGES

As stated previously, the bus driver wants to make sure your child is picked up for school and taken home in the afternoon the most safe, appropriate and orderly way possible. For this reason, parents are to send a written note in advance to the principal any time the

routine transportation procedures are changed; walking or riding in a car instead of riding the bus; riding a bus to a friend’s house; riding a different bus; and/or getting off his/her bus at a different stop. The note is critical and is for your child’s protection. Approval of the change for the bus is contingent upon available seating space on the bus. The bus driver is under direct orders, if the written permission has not been sent by the parent and signed by the principal, the child will have to ride the regular bus home and get off at the regular stop. We thank the parents and guardians in advance for your understanding and cooperation in keeping our children safe.

SCHOOL BUS INFORMATION

Bus drivers have a tremendous responsibility in transporting our students safely each day. As hard as we try to provide a timely service each and every day, there are times when a driver is absent form work due to illness, inclement weather, mechanical breakdowns or personal matters. When this happens, routes may be run as a second load. This will cause the route to be run late. In these instances, we ask the parents and students to please be patient. Students should not leave their assigned stop. A bus will be by to pick them up as quickly as possible. Parents leaving their children at a stop before going to work are encouraged to have a contingency plan such as; a neighbor or family member they can go to, a way to get back in their house, and a phone number for your work or

another family member. Perhaps there can be an agreement among the parents in your neighborhood to supervise or car pool students if the bus is extremely late. We can not emphasize the need for supervision at the bus stop.

Any further concerns of policy and procedures should be directed to

the Transportation Department at 678-594-8000.
