Shito Ryu Kai Asia Pacific Karate Do Championship to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

I would like to sincerely thank Shihan P. A. Titus Perera and everybody involved in the organization of rdthis tournament. In continuation from the 3 Hayashi Ha Asia Pacific Karate-Do Titles held in Philippine

in 2014. It is evident that the Sri Lanka Hayashi Ha Karate-Do Organization is also abiding by the principles taught by the original Grandmaster Hayashi Teruo which were, 'Nurturing and Educating people of the world through Karate-Do.’

Today I am very happy and pleased to welcome to this great tournament, officials and competitors from Asia Pacific and Oceanic countries. At events like these we can, through Karate-Do, heighten friendships between people of different cultures and customs, while extending the boundaries of goodwill we can realize the possibility for everlasting world peace. It is my wish that the competitors at this tournament utilize the fruits of their continuous hard training and embody shin, gi, tai (heart * technique * body) in addition to manners and honour to participate in a manner becoming of a true Karate-ka. I sincerely hope that you all create wonderful memories of this tournament as a result of your devotion to the technical and spiritual aspects of Karate-Do.

thThe Hayashi Ha Shito Ryu Kai, 4 Asia Pacific Karate-Do & Kobudo Championship 2016 held in Colombo, Sri Lanka is a truly meaningful tournament that sees a multitude of people from various countries gathering to take part and contribute.

As unified members we should renew our spirits and, as we are obliged to do, pass on to future generations the techniques that we inherited from the original Grandmaster, Teruo Hayashi. Is it not important for us as the inheritors of this tradition to display at this tournament, these Hayashi Ha techniques to the world and have them recognized by all?

The Hayashi Ha Organization has taken on a new structure and is undergoing renewal in many areas. rdThe 3 Hayashi Ha Shito Ryu Kai Asian Championship was successfully held in the Philippines.

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATION1. RULES

thThe Hayashi Ha Shito Ryu Kai 4 Asia Pacific Championship Karate & Kobudo will be conducted in accordance with the New Rules of the World Karate Federation (WKF), which were adopted on January 2015 for Juniors & Cadets, whereby for children under 16 years HAYASHI HA SHITO RYU KAI JAPAN & SRI LANKA RULES will be adopted.

In case of a disagreement in the interpretation of rules, the English text of the rules shall prevail. Any unforeseen incident not covered by the Rules shall be dealt with accordingly in the following manner:

1.1 Technical questions shall be resolved in accordance with the WKF Rules.

1.2 Cases of general nature shall be resolved in accordance with the WKF Statutes and Rules (2015).

COMPETITION REGULATIONS

1. TECHNICAL ORGANIZATION

The Hayashi Ha Shito Ryu Kai Japan is responsible for full control of the technical organization of the Karate competition, in consultation with the international technical delegates when necessary.

2. DRAWING OF LOTS

The drawing of lots will be conducted by officials appointed by the Organizing Committee for Karate. The draw will be computerized.

3. DURATION OF BOUT

The official duration of Kumite matches will be three (3) minutes for men / two (2) minutes for women, Junior and Cadet / -13 years old and under 12 years 1.5 minutes.

4. DRESS CODE

All contestants and team officials (coaches, managers, etc.), Referees and judges must wear the prescribed uniforms as defined in WKF Rules.

5. EXPENSES

5.1 Participation Fees - USD 70 per contestant (Maximum 2 individual categories)(1 Kata & 1 Kumite Event)USD 70 per contestant (Kobudo)

- USD 120 per team (Kata/Kumite)

5.2 Air Fare – Each participant is responsible for airline ticket from and to Sri Lanka.

5.3 Referees’ Seminar - USD 60 per person * Registration fees for Referees Seminar will only be waived for WKF Qualified Referees*

5.4 Kata Seminar - USD 60 per person5.5 Kata & Referee Seminar - USD 100 per person

6. SAFETY EQUIPMENT

6.1 Mitts, foot protection and mouth guards are compulsory6.2 Mitts, mouth guards, belts and body protection (for women) shall be provided by

the athletes themselves.

7. HAYASHI HA SHITO RYU KAI KARATE COMPETITION REGULATIONS

7.1 All entry forms and payments must be received by the Organizing Committee by the published closing date.

7.2 The competitor's age must be the same as the age for the category entered on the year of the competition.

7.3 Each country or region may enter any number of teams in each category, and any number of individuals.

7.4 All Kumite contestants must wear gum shields and must supply their own red and blue mitts and belts. Females should wear breast protectors. Shin and foot protection is compulsory but need not be of WKF approved type so long as it is safe and within reasonable dimensions.

7.5 All competitors are responsible for providing their own medical insurance. The rules applicable are the rules of the World Karate Federation, with some exceptions as to weights, ages and categories. For children the rules will be those of Hayashi Ha Shito Ryu Kai Sri Lanka. (Absolutely no face contact allowed).

7.6 Each participating country or group entered must supply referees or judges to work in the Championship. The actual number required is dependent on the size of the delegation as follows; Up to 10 competitors – 2 referees or judges. More than 10 and up to 20 competitors – 3 referees or judges. More than 20 competitors – 4 referees or judges.

7.7 The person or persons organizing the entries for the group's competitors should confirm that all competitors have been advised of the risks of competition Karate and that they fully realize and accept these risks.
