Introduction Welcome to the Hawker 400XP! To help begin the learning process, this package is designed to provide you with general information concerning the Hawker 400XP. A brief description of the aircraft and aircraft systems is also provided to assist in the transition of learning a new aircraft that may not be familiar to you. Simplified schematics of selected systems are included to help prepare you for the challenges that lay ahead when you embark on the journey to the maintenance initial course. The following is a brief history of the Hawker 400XP and its beginning. The Hawker 400XP was originally designed in Japan by Mitsubishi. The aircraft was known as the MU-300 or simply as the Diamond 1. Mitsubishi produced 91 aircraft and some are still currently flying. Soon after the introduction of the Diamond 1, Mitsubishi began development of an improved version of the aircraft known as the MU-300-1 or the Diamond II. Mitsubishi built 11 Diamond II’s before Beechcraft approached the company and expressed interest In possibly purchasing the aircraft. Beechcraft did not offer a jet in its product line so two options were presented: Option 1 involved Beechcraft developing a jet from the ground up, a costly and challenging proposition. Option 2 would allow Beechcraft to purchase an aircraft already on the market to substantially reduce their workload and development costs. Beechcraft opted for the latter and purchased the Diamond II from Mitsubishi. Beechcraft purchased the 11 aircraft already assembled as well as the manufacturing rights. Beechcraft renamed the Diamond II the BeechJet 400. The company also improved several of the aircraft systems including the powerplant and electrical system. The first 11 BeechJet 400 aircraft have dual serial numbers, a Mitsubishi serial number and a new designation from Beechcraft, “RJ”. Beechcraft eventually built RJ-12 through RJ-65 and that ended the BeechJet 400 model. The “RK” series was introduced and RK-1 became the first improved BeechJet 400 and was known as a BeechJet 400A. The model 400A was a greatly improved model over the BeechJet 400. The systems that were improved were the electrical system, the fuel system and the environmental system and minor changes to the flight controls just to name a few. Beechcraft built 353 BeechJet 400A’s before the company decided that production might be discontinued. To improve sales and marketing of the BeechJet 400A, Beechcraft decided to re-brand the model 400A and rename the aircraft the Hawker 400XP. The first Hawker 400XP was RK-354. Although The aircraft is a Hawker 400XP in designation, the data plate is still identified as a 400A. The Hawker 400XP designation is a name change only. The U.S. Air Force operates 180 of these aircraft in a “TT” configuration and the Japanese defense Forces are equipped with 13 models known as a “TX” version..

A hydraulic valve package located aft of the right main landing gear wheel well houses the hydraulic component modules for the landing gear, flaps and speed brakes.
