Hawk-I Configure Mode The following flow-charts show the general layout of the Configure Mode Menus, and the keystrokes that are required to navigate within the menus. Each block shown describes one screen as it would be seen on the HawkI. These flowcharts do not describe the keystrokes required to navigate within a specific screen, or how to change values. The Left/Right keys are used to move within a screen the same as they are to move from screen to screen. For example, to change the configuration of a Timer the Up/Down keys would be used to get to the “Timers” heading. Pressing Enter would take you to the “Timer 1 Configuration Page”:

TMR: 1 VAL: 120B TIMER

The Instance number (1) will be flashing. The Up key will take you to the configuration of Timer 2. The Down key will take you to the configuration for the last Timer being used. To change the value of the timer press the Right key. Now the preset value for the timer will be flashing:

TMR: 1 VAL: 120 B TIMER

The Up/Down keys will now change the value of the timer. When the desired time has been entered the Right key can be pressed to change the description:

TMR: 1 VAL: 120 B TIMER

The description will be flashing. To change the description press the Enter key. The first letter can now be changed with the Up/Down keys. To change the next/previous letter press the Right/Left key. When changes to the description are complete press Enter. The entire description will be flashing again. Now the Right key can be pressed and the Timer instance will flash. Pressing the Left key within the menus will move the flashing cursor between the parameters in reverse order. When a change has been made to a parameter in Configure Mode you will be asked to confirm the change when:

- exiting Configure Mode before confirming

Page 2

- moving to the next “Instance” (from Timer 1 to Timer 2) - pressing Reset to exit a menu before confirming - The following screen will appear:

CONFIRM: ENTER CANCEL: RESET

Pressing Enter will confirm the changes that have been made. Pressing Reset will cancel any changes that have been made. To change a Floating point number (such as Analog setpoints) the following keystrokes are required. With the number flashing press Enter. Now the number will stop flashing and the Up/Down keys can be used to change the value. The Left/Right keys can be used to move the position of the decimal point. When the desired number has been entered press the Enter key. The entire number will flash again. Again, the “Change Confirmation” screen will appear if you hit Reset or go to the next instance. Any menu can be exited by pressing Reset. If you are in one of the menus (DI:10 etc.) and you press Reset it will take you back to the main menu heading (Digital Inputs). Pressing Reset again will take you to the top of the menu list (Controllers).

Hawk-I Display Scroll The HawkI has a built in function which will display the status of the inputs in the following order: AI 1-24 readings (AI 1-16 are Thermocouple channels/AI 17-24 are 4-20 mA channels)

AI 1 XXXXX DESCRIPTION

RPM

RPM: XXXX

Note: RPM will not be displayed if the Pulses Per Revolution is set to 0. This display function is used throughout the start-up sequence. When a Sequence message is displayed (Crank Timer etc.) on one of the lines, the display scroll function will automatically shift the line with the input reading to the unused display line. When no sequence messages are using the display the display scroll will appear as follows:

AI 1 XXXXX DESCRIPTION

If a sequence message is written to line 1 the display will show:

CRANK: 120s AI 1 XXXXX

If a sequence message is written to line 2 the display will show:

AI 1 XXXXX CRANK: 120s

If there are sequence messages on line 1 and 2 of the display there will be no display scroll information. The display scroll automatically loops through the input displays. Pressing the Left key will stop the scroll on it’s current display. Pressing the Right key will resume the automatic scroll. Pressing the Up key will cause the scroll to move forward through it’s displays. Pressing the Down key will cause the scroll to move backwards through it’s displays.

DI: 1 CL T

DESCRIPTION

The CL indicates that the channel is closed. If the channel is open it will display OP. The flashing T in the top right corner indicates that Test Mode is active. During the final 30 seconds of the Test Mode Timer the T will flash at twice the normal rate. From this screen pressing the Reset key will end the Test. If the input is forced to the unhealthy state (when channel’s class is enabled) the display will show a shutdown message. This shutdown is for display only, and will not actually shut down the unit.

DI: 1 SD OP T DESCRIPTION

The top line of the display will flash until the Reset key is pressed. If the input is healthy when Reset is pressed the normal Test display will return. If the input is still unhealthy when Reset is pressed the top line will stop flashing (the T will continue to flash). This screen will remain until the input returns to the healthy state. If the Test Mode Timer expires and the input is still unhealthy it will cause the unit to shutdown. The Test Timer can be reset at any time during the test by pressing the Enter key. If you have selected an analog input (i.e. AI 1) the test displays will appear as follows :

AI:1 XXXX T DESCRIPTION

AI:1 SD XXXX T DESCRIPTION

NOTE: XXXX = present reading/units As with the Digital Inputs, the channel in Test will not cause a shutdown unless it is in an unhealthy state when the Test Mode Timer expires. If you have selected Tachometer the test display appears as follows:

SPEED: XXX RPM TDESCRIPTION

Page 25: Hawk-I Manual BREV1 - Spartan Controls/media/resources/spartan controls/u/67_spartan...Spartan Controls Ltd. 305 - 27 Street S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2A 7V2 Spartan Controls Manual

Page 23

NOTE: XXX = present RPM reading When the Tachometer is in Test the OVERSPEED parameter (located in the Tachometer Menu) is reduced by 10%. If the speed exceeds this new OVERSPEED setting it will cause the unit to shutdown. When an input is put in Test it will have no effect on the Sequence/Analog logic. If an input is used in the Ladder Logic Sequence or Analog Logic Page all contacts/values associated with that input will be maintained at the state last read before entering Test Mode.

Hawk-I Shutdown and Alarm Messages

The Hawk-I displays a specific message when a fault occurs. There are 8 types of faults that the Hawk-I will annunciate: 1. Digital Input Alarm 2. Digital Input Shutdown 3. Analog Input Alarm 4. Analog Input Shutdown 5. Analog Input Sensor Failure Alarm 6. Analog Input Sensor Failure Shutdown 7. General Purpose Alarm 8. General Purpose Shutdown A sensor failure occurs when the Hawk-I detects an Analog Input reading that is beyond the acceptable range. A thermocouple channel (AI 1-16) will sensor fail if the thermocouple is open or grounded. A 4-20 mA loop channel (AI 17-24) will sensor fail if the reading is below 3.82 mA or above 20.38 mA. A sensor failure will cause a shutdown if the Analog Input has any shutdown setpoints enabled and the class is anything other than “NONE”. If there are no shutdown setpoints enabled, or the class is “NONE”, a sensor failure will only cause an alarm. General Purpose Shutdowns/Alarms are used internally in the Hawk-I ladder logic program. They are used when the programmer wants to cause a shutdown or alarm if a certain set of conditions exist. Some common User Shutdowns/Alarms are:

• Failed To Start • Permissive Fault • Overspeed • Underspeed • Mag Pick-up Fault

Digital Input Alarm

DI: 1 AL OPENG OIL LEVEL

When a Digital Input Alarm occurs line 1 of the display will show the DI number (1-16) , AL for Alarm, and OP/CL to indicate whether the input is presently open or closed. Line 2 of the display will show the description for the Digital Input. Line 1 of the display will flash until the Reset key is pressed. At this time the fault display will clear. If the alarm condition still exists it will be present in the Unhealthy Channels menu. Digital Input Shutdown

Calibration of WIKA Transmitters NOTE: The majority of sensors will be well within acceptable tolerances without calibration. The transmitter range should be considered when judging the

accuracy of a reading. For example, if an error of 25 kPa is seen on a 0-2000kPa transmitter the error would be 1.25% of full scale. The same 25 kPa error on a 0-10,000kPa transmitter would only be 0.25% of full scale.

1. Remove the cap from the transmitter. 2. Pop the socket out of the cap to access the wires. 3. Pull the pin connector head out of the transmitter housing. 4. Now re-attach the socket to the pin connector. 5. Install a current meter in series with the output of the transmitter (pin 2). 6. With no pressure applied to the transmitter the meter should read 4 ma and the Hawk-I should

read 0 kPa. 7. Adjust the ZERO on the transmitter if not within acceptable tolerances. 8. Apply full scale pressure if possible. Meter should read 20 ma. 9. Adjust SPAN as necessary. The Hawk-I will sensor fail if the input is above 20.3 mA or below 3.8 mA.
