Hawaii is the most recent of the 50 U.S. states(joined the Union on August 21, 1959), and is the only U.S. state made up entirely of islands. It is the northernmost island group in Polynesia, occupying most of an archipelago in the central Pacific Ocean.

Polynesia is a subregion of Oceania, made up of

over 1,000 islands scattered over the central and southern Pacific Ocean. The indigenous people who inhabit the islands of Polynesia are termed and they share many similar traits including culture and beliefs. Historically, they were sailors and used stars to navigate during the night.

1. The country 's official languages are Tahitianand French. However , English is widely spoken in most of the islands.

2 . What is commonly known as " Tahiti " or " The islands of Tahiti " is officially classifiedas an overseas country of France, which has its own government that oversees all international decisions on behalf of FrenchPolynesia .

3. The word "tattoo " originated in FrenchPolynesia . The legend of Tohu , the god of tattooing, painting speaks of all the fish in theocean and shows its vibrant colors and designs. In Polynesian culture , tattoos are considered signs of beauty, and formally applied to the body as a celebration of adolescence in earlier times.

4. Polynesians Most believe that the mythicalisland of Hawaiki , now known as Raiatea , rose from the ocean floor and was thebeginning of all life on Earth.

5. Bungalow over water , which is now offeredas accommodation in many resorts in theworld, was invented in the islands of Tahiti 45 years ago.

The last volcano eceruption occurredin March 1984 and it lasted formore than 24 days causing heavy damage tothe people and surroundingareas. Thought hey were notmuch explosive, the viscosity of theirmagma fluid will be very low. As theresult, the movement of hot magma would be much faster compared toother volcanoes causing greatdestruction tothen eigh borhoodareas.
