Transcript of Haverford Response #2

Dear Haverford School Community,
I write with an update on life here at The Haverford School in light of the very public criminal
allegations against several Haverford School graduates and one Sixth Former. While we are deeply
disappointed with the decisions these young men apparently mad

competitions, to learn how to be good men with strong values, and to grow under the tutelage of
our teachers and coaches. They make me prou

We are taking this opportunity to talk with the boys about the fact that actions have consequences
for which they will be held responsible and to encourage them to make good choices. I have
included links below to messages from Lower School Head Ron Duska, Middle School Head Jay
Greytok, and Upper School Head Matt Green that I hope you have read and discussed with your
sons and daughters. This unfortunate event gives us an excellent opportunity to ha
around the kitchen table about the perils and temptations our children face and about how we hope
they will react to them. Shame on us if we do not use this opportunity to teach them about what we
value and the men we hope they will grow up

y hundreds of expressions of support for the School and the boys that I
have received from all corners of Fords Nation. There are so many that I will never be able to
answer them all – wonderful stories of addiction and recovery, adversity and growth, character and
achievement. Their volume and sincerity are clear and heartfelt expressions of love and the desire
to serve that have marked so many generations of Haverford School graduates, and I treasure every
one.
The Haverford School is a wonderful place, and we are determined to make it even better. We are
continuing discussions that started even before my arrival last year about the safety of our campus,
the programs we emphasize to develop good character in the boys, and the culture of the School.
We will keep you posted on our progress, and on the remarkable positive accomplishments the
boys achieve every day, as we work with you to prepare them for life.
Go Fords!
