Haunted House 3D piece (Intermedia Practices)

It started with a round cardboard box from Michael’s

I named him “Mr. Business” and gave him a ‘face’ by cutting out a pair of sunglasses.

Then I started building his body by giving his head a base.

Giving Business a cardboard platform, putting paper machie (or however you spell it) on the platform, and tapping used film all over him and the arms.

Splattering paint and spray paint all over the piece.

Gluing broken paint brushes on all over the piece.

Me and my friend with the nearly finished piece.

This piece is, I believe, an extension of my adiptic videos. In the first video, I am pre-senting to the audience everything I like as far as crafts, painting (paint brushes and paint), and taking pictures (the film). In the second video I am handing over everything I like and what I have a passion for doing to “The Man” (Mr. Business). ‘The Man’ takes everything I give him but destroys all of it and throws it back in my face. I believe this piece represents the fact that business people and the overall people that run man kind don’t care about what can come out of people creatively. Thus, they reject and destroy everything art-like.
