    HF is headquartered in Pakistan, registered under Trust Act 1882

    It has two functional chapters: HF-USA, registered under 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Service; and HF-UK registeredwith the Charity Commission in the UK

    Access to quality education is apriority for us. Since 2004, our ChildEducation Support Program (CESP)has contributed to improve access toquality education in some of themost isolated areas of Pakistan.

    Initiated in the Northern Areas, CESPprovides financial support to out-ofschool children. Other initiativesinclude HF schools established insome of the most marginalized areasof Pakistan, building the capacities of

    teachers to stimulate learning amongstudents under our ECD program,and a scholarship program tosupport talented yet needy studentscomplete their studies.

    Skills Development

    Skills development refers to the capacitiesacquired through all levels of education andtraining. Skills are developed throughformal, non-formal and on-the-job training,which prepares the trainees to be moreemployable with the capacity to adapt theirskills to meet the changing demands and

    opportunities of the economy and labormarket.

    Our Skills Development Program focusseson vocational as well as life skills andcareer-mentoring aspects of developingemployable skills of its trainees.

    In the absence of State-sponsored socialsafety nets, vulnerable families andindividuals facing temporary hardshipsand/or unforeseen expenditures can beeasily thrown into an endless cycle ofpoverty.

    Our Humanitarian Assistance Programprovides support to individuals and/orfamilies through medical, financial andeducational assistance. The objective is toenable the poorest of the poor to

    overcome crises before they exacerbate.

    The primary program components includesocial welfare, and Sahara Fund forMarriott Hotel blast victims.

    We also work for provision ofemergency relief to the victims ofnatural and human disasters. Our workfor the victims of the earthquake of2005, the IDPs crisis of 2009, as wellas the floods of 2010 and 2011 reflectsour commitment to mitigate the

    suffering of the disaster-struckpopulation.

    The key interventions under thisprogram include basic health units,assistance to the Spinal Cord Injury

    patients after the 2005 earthquakeand distribution of relief assistance tothe disaster struck populations.

    Our work with the disaster-affectedpopulation has led to creation of a newprogram component at theFoundation.

    The genesis of this component is a

    realization that preparedness fordisasters can equip the communitieswith better tools and understanding towithstand these calamities and resultsin relatively lesser levels of loss of lifeand livelihoods.
