As we celebrate the Great Sunday of the Resurrection this year, we do so amid fear, uncertainty

and, perhaps the most disturbing of all, isolation. This is unprecedented for us, but the Christian

Church has seen great tribulation in its two thousand years and has never lost faith because it

has never failed to follow Jesus Christ, the Resurrected One, the One who triumphed over

torture and even death.

On Easter Sunday we usually recall the night before: the holiest of Nights, the Easter Vigil. This

year we missed the fire, the lighting of the new Paschal Candle, the Exultet, the stories and the

baptisms of Joe and Charlie. But those are only the outward signs of our faith, a faith which is

strong enough to exist without those signs. Standing in the grace of God, we shall emerge from

this pandemic stronger than ever in our mission to Love, to Serve, to Be Hope – to live our faith

in Jesus Christ. And, yes, Joe and Charlie will be baptized as soon as we can gather in the Name

of the Lord.

And so, as we renew our Baptismal Promises together and separately in our homes, let us

remember our united faith, a faith that is as strong today as it was almost 2000 years ago on the

first Day of the Resurrection.

GATHERING RITES

Prelude This is the Day Leon C. Roberts (from STB Music Ministry CD “This is the Day”) Gathering Song Christ is Risen! Shout Hosanna! Text: Brian Wren Tune: Ode to Joy Arr. Bankson

Verse 1 Christ is risen! Shout Hosanna! Celebrate this day of days! Christ is risen! Hush in wonder; All creation is amazed. In the desert all surrounding, See, a spreading tree has grown. Healing leaves of grace abounding Bring a taste of love unknown.

Verse 2 Christ is risen! Raise your spirits From the caverns of despair. Walk with gladness in the morning. See what love can do and dare. Drink the wine of resurrection, Not a servant, but a friend. Jesus is our strong companion. Joy and peace shall never end.

Verse 3 ALL

Christ is risen! Earth and heaven Nevermore shall be the same.

Break the bread of new creation Where the world is still in pain.

Tell its grim, demonic chorus:

“Christ is risen! Get you gone!” God the First and Last is with us.

Sing Hosanna ev’ry one!

Greeting Priest: The Lord be with you. People: And with your spirit.

Gloria Mass of St. Ann Ed Bolduc

GOING FORTH Jesus Christ is Risen Today

1. Jesus Christ is ris’n today, Alleluia! Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia! Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia! Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia! 2. Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia! Unto Christ, our heav’nly King, Alleluia! Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia! Sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia! 3. But the pains which he endured, Alleluia! Our salvation have procured; Alleluia! Now above the sky he’s King, Alleluia! Where the angels ever sing. Alleluia! 4. Sing we to our God above, Alleluia! Praise eternal as his love; Alleluia! Praise him, now his might confess, Alleluia! Father, Son, and Spirit blest. Alleluia!

Postlude All Creatures of Our God and King LASST UNS ERFRUEN (from STB Music Ministry CD “This is the Day”)

The Grace in Which We Stand Our season of Lent began hearing our Lenten focus, “ The Grace In Which We Stand.” We heard of the beauty of Grace; Grace is the presence of God, the Love of God within us, the Hope of God. God is the giver of Grace. Weeks after we began Lent we no longer gathered to Worship in person because of the Stay-At-Home order. However, the Grace of God did not Stay At Home. It became part of your home. The Grace of God was shared by you in your homes. You believed in hope. You shared love. This Easter is like no other Easter. We will be in our homes, not gathering at St. Thomas Becket. However, Easter still happens. God does bring new life. Jesus is alive and well. He did not Stay At Home in the tomb. Thank You for all the ways you have been God’s Grace during this Lent 2020!!! Blessed Easter, Fr. Tim & The Staff

We are glad you are here. If you do not have a church home, we would be honored to have you as part of our church family. For registration information, please visit our website www.stbeagan.org or contact the parish office at 651-683-9808.
