    Lisa Cannestra, RN, Medical/Surgical Unit, has beenhonored with the 2015 Excellence in Nursing Awardfrom Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin St. Joseph’s Hospital. Cannestra (front left) was nominatedfor the Excellence in Nursing Award by Laura Lehrer (front right), and joined by (back) Allen Ericson, presi-dent of St. Joseph's Hospital; and Teri Lux, vice president of patient services.     Brenda Lee Johnston resigned as executive director ofthe Schauer Arts Center, the center announced May 20.

     Johnston’s last day will be July 28 Johnston has accepted a position as assistant professor

    of arts administration at Butler University, which is located inIndianapolis. She begins her employment there on Aug. 17.

    “The Schauer Center is a unique and special place. Ienjoy the work we do at the Schauer Center and will missour staff, board, patrons, students, and donors greatly.While I hadn’t planned to leave the Schauer Center so earlyin my tenure, this is simply an opportunity I can’t pass up,” Johnston said in a statement.

    In a statement, the Schauer Arts Center said thatthroughout her nearly three year tenure with the organiza-tion, Johnston increased the Center’s presence throughoutthe region, working to better serve residents and businessesthrough the Schauer Center’s mission. She has worked toserve a greater cross-section of the region’s population, andto increase educational opportunities for all ages andvisions.

    Schauer Board President Tracey Berg said, “Brenda’sleadership has made a significant impact on the SchauerCenter and we wish her well in this next step in her career.“

    Butler University is a private, coeducational profession-al university. Johnston will teach in the Jordan College of theArts (JCA). JCA's mission is to create artist-citizens thatshape the community—and the world—around them. Thenational-level conservatory instruction combined with aholistic understanding of where individuals fit into the worldas an artist provides an unmatched perspective and artisticintelligence that prepares students for a lifetime of success.

    In a statement, the Schauer Arts Center said a nation-wide search for a new director is underway with the goal ofhaving a smooth and timely transition between Johnston andthe new executive director.

    Information soughton dog bite: WestBend police are seekinginformation regarding adog bite reported in the1100 block of MainStreet May 17. Accordingto the police report, a 10-year-old girl was ridingher bike in the areaaround 3:54 p.m. when awhite female walking twodogs approached on thesidewalk. As the dogspassed, one of the dogsbit the girl on the ankle.As the lady walking the

    dogs passed, she askedthe girl if the dog had bit-ten her. The girl initiallytold her no, but uponreturning home found thatshe had been bitten.

    One dog is describedas a medium to full sizewhite dog with black onits head. The other dog isa small black dog.

    The Police Depar-tment is attempting toidentify the female walk-ing the dogs and the doginvolved in order to verifythat the dog is properlyvaccinated. Anyone withinformation should callthe Police Dispatcher at(262) 335-5000.
