Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

In this Harry Potter book, Harry was born and he was taken by a friend of his family to his aunt and uncle, Vernon and Petunia, who had a child named Dudley. He grew up in a cupboard under the stairs. His aunt and uncle don’t like him because he was a wizard, but he didn’t know this. When he turns eleven years old he receives a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He fights with Lord Voldemort in his first year at school and wins. The Philosopher’s Stone is destroyed and so his very exciting year ends.

The two scenes that I chose are when Hagrid comes to that small house on the rock to give Harry his letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in chapter four “The Keeper of the Keys” and when he fights Voldemort in chapter seventeen, “The Man with Two Faces”.

In the scene from the beginning, Harry’s uncle didn’t want him to see his letter and they go far away from their house and they stop at a small wooden house. Hagrid comes to that house in the middle of the night to give Harry his letter. That night it was Harry’s eleventh birthday. When Hagrid comes he tells Harry that he is a wizard like his parents. Harry was scared because he saw a very tall man speaking with him. He was impressed with Hagrid. Harry’s entire life was a lie because he didn’t know that he was a wizard. Harry’s uncle was very angry when Hagrid told Harry that he was a wizard and that he had to go to that school.

In the second scene, Harry is intelligent, but scared. He is using his brain to fight with Voldemort using the Mirror of Erised. Quirrell, the professor of Defense against the Dark Arts, wants to take the Philosopher’s Stone from “inside the mirror”. Voldemort made Harry look in the mirror, Harry started to lie because he saw himself with the red stone in his pocket. After, when Voldemort asked Harry what he had seen, Voldemort knew that Harry was lying. Quirrell tried to take the stone from Harry, but he couldn’t do it because when he touched him his skin burned. They fought and Harry won.

The difference between the two scenes is that in the first scene Harry didn’t know that he was a wizard and he had mystical powers and in the second one he is a

very good wizard with more power, bravery and intelligent tactics. For example, he tries to keep Quirrell talking until someone can come and help.

In conclusion, Harry Potter is another type of a wizard kid.
