Dear Harrodsburg Christian Church Family & Friends, Every Advent I am captured by the simplicity and wonder of the Christmas story. God taking on flesh and entering into the human experience as a baby, laid in a manger, born to a poor teenage girl who knew nothing of the world except her own family and faith in a God who would deliver. It is captivating and amazing and beautiful. It seems so unlike my usual world of cars and shopping malls, screens of every kind and busyness that mitigates against relationship. Perhaps it is my age and stage that is no longer mesmerized by the hustle and bustle and an ever widening commercialization of every occasion in life. I am mesmerized by the infant lowly in a manger stall. I am drawn to a God who enters into our existence in this way; a God who came and continues to come near to us. I am drawn to the King who walked among us and laughed with us and cried with us; the King who allowed people to touch Him and welcomed children to His side. Come, thou long expected Jesus, Born to set Thy people free; From our fears and sins release us; Let us find our rest in Thee. Israels strength and consolation, Hope of all the earth Thou art; Dear desire of every nation, Joy of every longing heart. Born Thy people to deliver; Born a child and yet a King. Dear HCC Family, I cannot begin to express my sincere thanks for your support during my sister’s illness and death. Your thoughts, prayers, and kind concern means more to my family and me than you can imagine. Love to you all, Linda Standau Dear HCC, Thank you so much to all that sent cards, thoughts, and prayers, special groups, my way, visited me at the hospital. A special thank you to Gaye who visited and prayed such special prayers for me. I am doing “wonderfully good” now though a long way to go yet. All my Christian love to everyone, Margot Perkins Dear Harrodsburg Church family, Thank you very much for the many expressions of sympathy given when my father died. The cards, bereavement dinner, meals, memorials and the gift of your presence in so many ways – all meant a great deal to our family. Please accept our deepest gratitude. The next community dinner at our church is scheduled for Monday, December 17. The serving time is 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Doors will open at 4:45pm and close up at 6:30pm. Please sign up with Leslie Hardman if you can help with the community dinner. We are receiving final payments in preparation for purchasing airline tickets for the India mission trip. Gene Robertson is leading a choir at Northpoint. We will determine if a contribution can be made for each semester. For the holidays, it was mentioned to remember people that are often overlooked. This includes some people that attend the Community Meal. The Outreach ministry approved helping with the fellowship breakfast setup on Sunday mornings in December. The menu change to pop-tarts was outvoted and was not approved. Some other groups may be invited to help with the fellowship breakfast setup. Dan Chilton, Leader

Please join us on Sunday, Dec. 16th at 10:30 a.m. for our Christmas Cantata. This year our Christmas Cantata is a compilation of majorly Getty music. Keith and Kristyn Getty are modern hymn writers from Northern Ireland. They have reinvented the traditional hymn form and have created a catalogue of songs that teach Christian doctrine which cross genres of traditional, classical, folk and contemporary composition which are sung world-wide. Their most famous hymn is “In Christ Alone,” which holds the #1 position of most frequently sung in UK churches and is well known in the American church culture. We hope that you will join us for a morning of Getty music which will focus on the celebration of Jesus’ birth and the major players within the nativity story. The choir will take a break from Dec. 26th through Jan. 15th. Practice will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 16th.

Please welcome our new members. Left to right.
