The Directors of HARLEM WEEK, Inc. are pleased to present in this Photo Essay, a few of the key highlights and images that were a part of some of HARLEMWEEK 2014’s magical moments. HARLEM WEEK started celebrating its 40th Anniversary at the beginning of the year with tributes to the 2014 Super Bowl; followed by a“soft roll out” of the Harlem Music Fest in the spring; concluding its public events in August with the Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Run/Walk Salute to the 50th Anniversary ofthe 1964 Civil Rights Act; and its 40th Anniversary Gala Reception at the famous Russian Tea Room. Our hope is that as you peruse the photo essay you will be able tocapture vivid images of the key events and activities that you (and or your associates) may or may not have been able to experience personally, and thereby trigger positive memories of those events.

This photo essay will also serve to provide you with an overview or slight glimpse of some of the over 112 unique, exciting and diverse events that were part of the HARLEM WEEK 2014 40th Anniversary celebration.

40th Anniversary of HARLEM WEEK in 2014

The theme of HARLEM WEEK 2014 was “Forever Harlem: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.” The original leadership of

the planning committee for HARLEM DAY in 1974 was comprised of Percy Sutton, Joseph Roberts Sr., Dizzy Gillespie,

Marvin Kelly, Tito Puente, Tony Rogers, Rev. Wyatt T. Walker, Stephanie Francis, Maya Angelou, Larry Frazier, Hal Jackson,

Frankie Crocker, Vivian Robinson, Voza Rivers, Ossie Davis, Joe Cuba, Nancy Wilson, Gloria Lynne, James Baldwin, Max

Roach, Charles Rangel, Bill Tatum, Ruby Dee, Basil Paterson, and Lloyd Williams, all of whom participated in the Ribbon

Cutting at West 138th Street and 7th Avenue (7th Avenue was formally renamed in honor of Adam Clayton Powell, Jr.),

launching HARLEM DAY on Saturday, August 17th. Little did these planners and their committee members realize that

this “one time” “one day” event, due to great response and demand, would eventually balloon to become a month-long

event which now includes over 112 events comprised of conferences, seminars, expos, sporting events, festivals, live

music and entertainment, dance, vendors, movies, and outdoor markets attended by over 2.5 million persons in 2014.

HARLEM WEEK is now unquestionably an internationally renowned brand with participants and visitors from around the

block, the region, the country, and the world. HARLEM WEEK has attracted a virtual who’s who of politics, arts, culture,

sports, entertainment, business and celebrities including Presidents Bill Clinton, George Bush, Barack Obama, and

Hon. Nelson Mandela; Mayors Ed Koch, David Dinkins, Rudy Giuliani, Michael Bloomberg, and Bill De Blasio; David Rock-

Our Salute toThe 50th Anniversary of theCivil Rights Act - 1964This history defining legislation of the 20th century, the 1964 Civil Rights Act,was celebrated during the Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Run and Walk on Saturday,August 23rd. Over 6,000 runners and walkers participated in honoring slaincivil rights heroes James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner.World renowned trumpeter Joey Morant sounded off the event with his uniquerendition of the National Anthem and “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” The salutewas a day-long event including live and recorded music, remarks from localelected officials, family outings and films showing on the great hill of St.Nicholas Park. Throughout the day there were live performances paying tributeto the 50th Anniversary. In addition there was a special tribute to “Imhotep”Gary Byrd, renowned radio personality on WBLS-FM/WLIB-AM and WBAI-FM,in recognition of his commitment to the promotion and preservation of Blackhistory.

Our Celebration ofThe 80th Anniversary of Apollo Theater -1934HARLEM WEEK Celebrated the Apollo’s 80th Anniversary and its trend-setting‘Amateur Night’ on Wednesday, August 13th during the HARLEM WEEK 2014 College Scholarship and Grant presentations on its hallowed stage. Hon. InezDickens, NYC Council Member, hosted the event along with presenting sponsors,Emmis Communications, Citibank, and NYC & Company. Continuing the celebra-tion, the Apollo Theatre amateur night performers were featured on the St.Nicholas Avenue stage on HARLEM DAY.

The Apollo Theater was originally opened in 1914 as Hurtig and Seamon’s BurlesqueTheater, which when opened was a burlesque and music hall for whites only. In1934 Hurtig and Seamon’s Burlesque Theater was reopened as The Apollo Theaterchanging the format of the shows from burlesque to variety reviews and redirectingtheir marketing attention to the fast growing black community in Harlem. In thatsame year the world renowned Amateur Hour was originated by Ralph Cooper, Sr.Its fabled list of performers as well as ‘Amateur Night’ winners are a virtual who’swho of entertainment ranging from Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald,Tito Puente, Barbara Striesand, Tony Bennett, Mahalia Jackson, Redd Foxx, BillCosby, Sam Cooke, Gladys Knight, The Jackson Five, Bob Marley, Harry Belafonte,Dave Brubeck, James Brown, and many, many more. The Apollo Theater was closeddown in the mid 70’s and through the vision, leadership, and financial support offormer Manhattan Borough President, Percy Sutton, supported by CongressmanCharles Rangel, restoration efforts began in the mid 80’s and concluded in 2009 intime for the Apollo’s 75th anniversary. Today The Apollo Theater, under the leader-ship of its Chairman, Richard Parsons, Esq. and its CEO, Jonelle Procope (picturedabove), is rejuvenated with a new interior, an LED marquee and box office, anarchival and historical collection, and a historic memorabilia store. The Apollo is an-nually visited by 1.3+ million persons from around the block and throughout theworld. Each August , The Apollo Theater Foundation celebrates HARLEM WEEK atits Amateur Hour Series on Wednesday evenings.

Our Celebration ofThe 45th Anniversary of Dance Theatre of Harlem1969HARLEM WEEK was proud to join DTH in celebrating the 45th Anniversaryof Dance Theatre of Harlem on Saturday August 9th at its annual day-longoutdoor festival and block party on 152nd Street between St. Nicholas andAmsterdam Avenues. This world renowned professional American balletcompany, based in Harlem, was founded by co-directors Arthur Mitchell,the first African American Principal dancer at the NYC Ballet and KarenShook, who had been the first teacher and ballet master at the Dutch NationalBallet. Now training more than 1,000 dancers of all ages and backgroundson an annual basis, Dance Theater of Harlem’s reputation was born by beinga major African American ballet company prioritizing black principal dancers.Dance Theater of Harlem’s reputation has been sustained over the decadesby launching a “Dancing Through Barriers” tour in Apartheid-era SouthAfrica that still performs today. Both Mitchell, Dance Theater of Harlem’sco-founder and the Company itself were inducted into the National Museumof Dance Hall of Fame in 1999. Dance Theater of Harlem was recognizedby the National Endowment for the Arts receiving a grant to archive and pre-serve the history, costumes and dance numbers of Dance Theater of Harlem.Dance Theater of Harlem is now recognized as the premier urban locationfor the education and training of persons of all ages in dance. Its reputationis now world renowned.

Our Celebration ofThe 50th Anniversary ofJazzmobile - 1964HARLEM WEEK proudly formally celebrated the 50th Anniversary ofJazzmobile in 2014 on Saturday, August 9th at its “Great Jazz on theGreat Hill” annual celebration in Central Park. Musical Tributes to the GreatJazz and Swing era and dance music were provided by Wycliffe Gordon,who was presented with the 2014 Harlem Music Fest Award. Jazzmobilewas founded in 1964 by Daphne Arnstein, an arts patron, and the es-teemed Dr. “Billy” Taylor. Jazzmobile is devoted to bringing America’sClassical Music and only indigenous art form – Jazz – to the largest pos-sible audience by producing concerts, festivals and special events world-wide. The musicians that have graced Jazzmobile stages throughout thedecades and around the world include Nat King Cole, Duke Ellington, DizzyGillespie, John Coltrane, Billie Eckstein, Sun Ra, Nancy Wilson, AhmadJamal, Terrence Blanchard, Tito Puente, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Machitoand innumerable others. Jazzmobile, under the extraordinary leadershipand vision of its Executive Director, Robin Bell-Stevens (pictured above),has become a major year-round component of HARLEM WEEK in thesummer and Harlem Music Fest throughout the year. Jazzmobile is one ofthe most important entertainment and cultural events taking place in NewYork City.

Mr. Speaker, it is with great pleasure that I join the beloved people of Harlem to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of HARLEMWEEK, which this year marks a huge milestone in the annual showcasing of our beautiful community’s rich economic, politicaland cultural history.

HARLEM WEEK has grown from just a one-day occasion in 1974 to a month-long celebration packed with 112 events in 2014that displays everything Harlemites take great pride in. The event's impact on our District is large and vast, and its ability to bringthe whole neighborhood together is unparalleled.

In 2015, HARLEM WEEK will host its 1st Annual Harlem Music Fest in New York City, for which I am honored to have beenselected as chairman. This special new feature will pay tribute to Harlem’s diverse African-American, Latino, Caribbean, African,Hispanic and European musical and entertainment history. The festival will give recognition to the global influence of Harlem’svery own music and musicians.

I applaud The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, the committed organization behind HARLEM WEEK, for renaming the NewYork City Business Awards Luncheon in honor of the late Basil Paterson, a legendary Harlemite, proud father to NYS GovernorDavid A. Paterson, and my dearest friend. It is very fitting that HARLEMWEEK is recognizing a central political figure to Harlemand New York City, who was a leader of the Harlem Clubhouse and whose political and social influence still resonates in our com-munity.

Thanks to The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce and its President, Lloyd Williams, along with the myriad contributions of

local businesses and dedicated volunteers, the iconic and historic tradition of HARLEM WEEK will continue to grow stronger each

year. I remain committed to promoting Harlem's unique and remarkable culture through HARLEM WEEK, which has become an

integral part of Harlem as well as the entire New York region over the past 40 years and for many years to come.

“A Great Day in Harlem,” the first public event of HARLEM WEEK 2014, attractedover 44,000 people to Ulysses S. Grant National Memorial Park throughout theday. This year’s event was a salute to the historic “Sounds of Motown (BerryGordy) & Philly (Gamble and Huff).”

In the first segment, attendees enjoyed a cultural showcase featuring HarlemArts Alliance’s Artz, Rootz & Rhythm salute to music and dance. The secondsegment was a Gospel Showcase featuring Tiger the Hope Boy, Tony Lee &dancers, Dante Hawkins, Lynette Washington & Dennis Bell and the ever crowdpleasing, award winning - Bishop Hezekiah Walker. The third segment featured the very popular “Fashion Fusion” showcase that moved, pranced,strutted, twirled and profiled to our 2014 music theme, “Sounds of Motown &Philly”. It was the best yet, attracting regional and international models andfirst ever youth designers as young as 9 and13 years old! Following the fabulous fashion segment, it was show time. The fourth segment, “A ConcertUnder the Stars,” began with Harlem Music Fest 2014 salutes, presented in partnership with radio station WBLS-FM, to Bishop HezekiahWalker, R&B great Freddie Jackson, Motown’s Berry Gordy, Philadelphia’sKenny Gamble, and Leon Huff. The evening concert featured a special tributeto the “Sounds of Motown from “Motown the Musical” and to the “PhillySound” from R&B greats Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes.

The entire day featured international vendors and exhibitors promoting arts,culture, education, and foods from around the world.

Ronald Guy received the 2014 Joseph Roberts Sr. Community Service Award;LaZette McCants received the 2014 Vivian Robinson Arts & Culture Award; Dr. Bertrand J.Brown received the John Henrik Clarke Outstanding Educational Achievement Award; VernaArthur, representing NYC Department for the Aging and Shirley Saxton representing the So-cial Security Administration both received the 2014 Public Service Awards; and GladysJames, formerly of NYC Department of Education, received the Maya Angelou EducationalAchievement Award. A highlight of the Elder’s Jubilee Luncheon was the scholarship and grant presentations to de-serving students and organizations from HARLEM WEEK partners and sponsors.

The 2014 “Senior Citizen’s Hat Fashion Show” was coordinated by Gladys James and Deb-orah Williams of Her Game 2. This always-anticipated fashion showcase, themed “Fun & Fur,”highlighted beautiful hats and scarfs designed by Harlem’s Heaven Boutique, Harriet “Rose-bud,” Chris Hats, Chad Accessories, Audrey Weaver, and Irene Gandy’s Fun Furs.

Music, courtesy of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, “The Melody Man” (SammieDavis), provided an energetic and entertaining live performance which was thoroughly enjoyedby the 200+ luncheon attendees.

The specially prepared, nutritious and delectable senior citizens’ lunch was provided courtesyof Melba Wilson, Owner of Melba’s Restaurants and the fabulous healthy desserts were pro-vided by Make My Cake.

That event is now known as the Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Run/Walk. Thisyear, in honor of the 40th Anniversary of HARLEM WEEK and in tribute to Hon. Basil A.Paterson, HARLEM WEEK co-founder and Harlemite extraordinaire, the annual NY CityBusiness Awards Luncheon was renamed the “Basil Paterson Business Awards Lunch-eon.” Mr. Paterson, in addition to being and Executive Board Member of The GreaterHarlem Chamber of Commerce, was an internationally renowned lawyer, labor negotiatorand federal mediator who also served as a state senator, a deputy mayor, and New York’ssecretary of state.

The Upper Manhattan Auto Show (UMAS) celebrated its 25th year as the premier outdoor urban autoshow in the northeast, exhibiting some of the most unique classic, antique and new vehicles, hybrids,fuel efficient cars, as well as showcasing newly released cars for the upcoming year. This great autoshow also features motorcycles and fabulous collectibles and historic antique buses provided by theMTA.

This year’s Auto Show was sponsored by The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, New York DailyNews, and MTA, co-sponsored by Greyhound, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hot 97 FM and Upper ManhattanEmpowerment Zone.

Hundreds of the auto show enthusiasts and attendees selected and voted for their favorite cars and mo-torcycles in several award categories. Award winning categories included: The People’s Choice; BestAntiques; Best Muscle Car; Most Unique Vehicle; Best “Green” Vehicle; Best Classic Motorcycle;Best Modern Motorcycle; and Best Vehicles from the following Era’s - 30’s-40’s; 50’s-60’s; 70’s-80’s; and 90’s – present.

The outdoor Health Village continues to grow every year and this year was no exception -attracting thousands of attendees from across the city and beyond. “The Health Villagewithin Our Village” had approximately 60 exhibits from hospitals, health centers, healthservice providers, doctors, holistic practitioners, acupuncturists, dentists, alternative healthpractitioners, and others, providing important health information to attendees. Free healthtesting was provided on site, as well as information on health plans, health insurance, nutri-tion, holistic medicine, and exercise.

The YMCA Stage produced by Harlem Arts Alliance’s Artz, Rootz and Rhythm in concert with Harlem Music Fest and WLIB-AM attracted the best of local andregional talent including Jazz, spoken word, Hip-Hop, R&B, a “Dress for Success” Back to School Children’s fashion show featuring designers as young as 9 and13 years old, and a Bare Head Beauties/Bare Head Men fashion show saluting Cancer survivors. Performances by the Salvation Army Phil Ramone Children’s Or-chestra, New York Philharmonic Young Composers, NJPAC Jazz for Teens, Jazz vocalist Cynthia Scott, Ms. Irene Renee, Piece of My Heart (Off BroadwayPlay), Earth Man Experience, Kayla Sky & Sade Emoni, and Uptown Dance Academy were a huge hit. The special artist featured on the YMCA Stage was therenowned three time Tony award winner Hinton Battle who wowed the audience with his song and dance presentation.

The St. Nicholas Avenue Stage produced by WBLS-FM and Harlem Music Fest featured a musical salute to The O’Jays entitled “It’s a Family Reunion” withextraordinary live performances by Donald Byrd Jazz Foundation, Apollo Amateur Hour winners featuring dancer TK, Keith “The Captain” Gamble & Nu Gypsies,and Claudia Hayden; the fabulous Erika Campbell of Mary Mary, R&B Superstar “Tank”, and the rocking sounds of the exciting Jeff Foxx Band had thousandsof spectators “dancing in the streets” singing and having a real HARLEM DAY family reunion. The Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Run/Walk, sponsored by New York Road Runners and The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, co-sponsored by WBLS-FM,Fox TV, NY Amsterdam News, NY Daily News, and The City College of New York, attracted over 6,300 registered runners and walkers. According to many run-ners and walkers, this event hosted by the New York Road Runners is second in popularity only to the NY City Marathon.

The Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Run/Walk saluted the 50th Anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and honored slain civil rights heroes James Chaney, AndrewGoodman and Michael Schwerner. The Walk attracted attendees from around the region who came out to support the 50th Anniversary milestone with a run/walkthrough historic Harlem which was supported by religious organizations, unions, teachers, and family members of all ages.

Following the Run/Walk, performers throughout the day celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act including renowned folk artists, Kim & Reggie Harris; and the Afrikumba Drummers. The Hip Hop Hall of Fame & Museum provided well-known DJ's, dancers and rappers who provided the historicconnection between Hip Hop and the Civil Rights movement. This event also took time to honor Jazz great Bobbi Humphrey and legendary radio personalityImhotep Gary Byrd.

Thanks to New York Road Runners under the leadership of Mary Wittenberg, Peter Ciaccia, Paul Ortolano, Michael Rodgers, and Corey Witmer for their ongo-ing commitment to healthy living and exercise and GHCC board members, Karen Witherspoon and Tony Rogers for their oversight. Jazzmobile in partnership with the Central Park Conservancy supported by HARLEM WEEK presented the7th annual Great Jazz on the Great Hill family picnic and celebration featuring great music. The afternoonwas hosted by R&B singer Alyson Williams with performances by T.S. Monk and friends, and special guestartist, Wycliffe Gordon and his All-Star Band. Gordon was presented with a special Harlem Music Fest 2014award by HARLEM WEEK for his support of Jazzmobile and contributions to the field of music and for mentoringyoung musicians. This award was presented by Voza Rivers, 1st Vice Chairman, HARLEM WEEK, and RobinBell-Stevens, Executive Director, Jazzmobile.

Attendees participated in lively Swing dance lessons all over the park dancing to the Swing music of WycliffeGordon and his All-Star Band.

Thousands of Harlemites, New Yorkers and tourists from throughout the region brought their blankets and picnicbaskets for an afternoon of Jazz in Central Park!

HARLEM WEEK 2014 “Prime” Media Partners RADIOWBLS-FM – was the very first FM radio partner of HARLEM WEEK. Under the leadership of Hal Jackson and Frankie Crocker, WBLS-FM created the music sounds that have become synonymous with HARLEM WEEK. Charles Warfield, who took over the leadership ofWBLS-FM, the flagship station of Inner City Broadcasting Corporation, as Vice President and General Manager continued to lend lead-ership and support to HARLEM WEEK by providing promotional announcements, national and international recording artists that per-formed at our indoor/outdoor concerts. WBLS-FM’s renowned on-air personalities hosted and participate in various HARLEM WEEKand Harlem Music Fest programs and activities now under the leadership of Deon Levingston, Emmis Broadcasting Corp. WBLS-FMand WLIB-AM also host, in concert with The Greater Harelm Chamber of Commerce, a monthly radio show on the last Sunday featuringall things Harlem.

WLIB-AM – was the very first radio partner of HARLEM WEEK since its inception when both WLIB-AM and HARLEM WEEK wereheadquartered at 310 Lenox Avenue between 125th and 126th Streets. Under the leadership of its Chairman, Percy Sutton, WLIB-AMhas always played a key role in getting the message to the community through numerous interviews and announcements. WLIB-AM isalso instrumental in bringing in national and international gospel artists to perform on our stages. WLIB-AM is the official “health voice”of HARLEM WEEK and The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce.

HOT 97-FM – Throughout the 30+ year history of HOT 97 they have been a key supporter of HARLEM WEEK. They have supportedmany events including The Upper Manhattan Auto Show, Golden Hoops, Tri-State Junior Tennis Championships and outdoor stage ac-tivities. Recognized as the country’s leading Hip-Hop stations, they have not only provided announcements and airtime for interviewsbut also top artists to perform on our stages and automobiles to be raffled off at the Auto Show. Hot 97 supports HARLEM WEEK on anannual basis by providing its top on-air personalities to participate in various indoor/outdoor programs.

WHCR FM – is Harlem’s true community radio station, produced by The City College of New York seven days a week. It provides theopportunity to effectively share the HARLEM WEEK message with the New York City region on radio and with hundreds of thousandsmore around the world via the internet. WHCR-FM provides to HARLEM WEEK airtime via announcements, interviews and a monthlyone hour radio program on the last Tuesday afternoon that helps spread the word about HARLEM WEEK all year round.

WNYC-AM/FM are New York's flagship public radio stations, broadcasting the finest programs from NPR, American Public Media,Public Radio International and the BBC World Service, as well as a wide range of award-winning local programming. WNYC is the primaryPublic Radio Partner of HARLEM WEEK providing announcements to promote various events. WNYC, through the strong support ofBrenda Willams-Butts, Senior Director of Community Engagement and Audience Development, also plays a key role in our EconomicDevelopment Day annually providing one of the station’s major air personalities to serve as emcee of the Economic Development Lunch-eon. WNYC-AM/FM also serves as our major radio information/talk partner for HARLEM DAY and for the annual Percy Sutton Harlem5K Run/Walk.

DAILY PRINT New York DAILY NEWS – Through the vision and leadership of its former Vice President, John Campi, and its renowned cartoonistand writer Bill Gallo, The NY Daily News is the longest standing and continual daily print partner of HARLEM WEEK. This tradition iscontinued in a magnificent manner by William “Bill” Holiber, President & CEO, John Polizano, Sr. Vice President, Brian Adams, Manager,Community Affairs and Jared McCallister, Sr. Reporter/Entertainment Writer. The Daily News has sponsored many of the major eventsfocused on music, sports, and education over the past decades ranging from The Golden Hoops to indoor concerts at the Apollo Theater,Columbia University, The City College of New York, and outdoor concerts at Central Park, U. S. Grant National Memorial Park, MarcusGarvey Park, etc. Of special note, the Daily News is the senior partner of the famous Upper Manhattan Auto Show and many moreevents. The Amsterdam News has a world renowned reputation ofbeing the honest voice of the tri-state region, and the largest and most influential publication servicing the tri-state region’sBlack communities. The Amsterdam has annually co-sponsored the National Historic Black College Fair and Expo., the NYCSenior Citizen’s Day, the NYC Children’s Festival, and is a co-founder of the Percy Sutton Harlem 5k Run/Walk. The Ams-terdam News supports the programs and efforts of HARLEM WEEK year round focused on our health initiatives, Black His-tory Month programming, and the Harlem Music Fest. Under the visionary leadership of its Publisher & Editor-in-Chief,Elinor Tatum, the Amsterdam continues to grow in its influence, and importance. NY BEACON – A longtime partner of HARLEM WEEK and The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce (originally throughits founder, Bill Underwood and continued under the extraordinary vision and direction of its Publisher, Walter Smith, andCo-Publisher & CEO, Miata Haj Smith,) the NY Beacon annually effectively reaches the African American, Caribbean Amer-ican and Latino markets in the New York City region. It provides political and personal direction and guidance. The NYBeacon actively promotes and participates in key HARLEM WEEK events and activities such as the NY City Economic De-velopment Day, “A Great Day in Harlem,” National Historic Black College Fair & Expo., NYC Health Village, and the PercySutton Harlem 5K Run/Walk. NY CARIB NEWS - has served as the premiere newspaper for issues of importance related to the Caribbean for over 25years. It is known to the Caribbean American community as “its weekly voice” and the key source for information onsubjects of particular importance to those from or interested in the Caribbean nations. NY CHRISTIAN TIMES - The New York Christian Times is a regional, community-based weekly newspaper that deliverslocal, national and international news of particular importance to the religious communities of the tri-state region whichdisproportionately impacts on the Black and global Christian and religious population. Under the leadership of Rev. DennisDillon, The NY Christian Times pays particular attention to the economic issues oft times ignored by other publications butthat have significant impact on its readership. The Christian Times has been a longtime supporter of HARLEM WEEK andhas annually co-sponsored Gospel segments at “A Great Day in Harlem,” HARLEM DAY, the NY City Senior Citizen’s Dayand the NY City Economic Development Day. MONTHLY PRINT The Positive Community Magazine - is a tri-state monthly “good news” magazine focused on the religious communitiesin New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. It also highlights the programs and objectives of the historic Black Collegesalumni within the tri-state region. Under the leadership of co-Founders Adrian Council, Publisher, and Jean Wells, Editor-in-Chief, Positive Community has participated in and supported HARLEM WEEK for many years. They have particularlybeen supportive of the Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Run/Walk and the NY City Economic Development Day. Each summer, ThePositive Community Magazine features a key aspect of the HARLEM WEEK annual theme. The Positive Community Magazinepartners with The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce and HARLEM WEEK throughout the year.

TVABC-7 – Sandra Bookman (pictured left), Host of ABC Channel 7’s award-winning program “Here and Now” aired eachSunday afternoon, has, over the past years, annually devoted one or more segments of her Sunday program to promotekey HARLEM WEEK public events.

CBS – CBS2 has been a long time partner and supporter of HARLEM WEEK. CBS has covered many of the HARLEM WEEKevents and activities over the past years and has in fact created HARLEM WEEK and Harlem Jazz & Music Festival specialprograms. HARLEM WEEK has enjoyed strong support from CBS TV anchors Dana Tyler and Maurice DuBois (picturedleft). CBS has particularly focused on covering events and activities which promote HARLEM WEEK’s health-related initia-tives, sports programs Otis Livingston and its children’s programming, and senior citizens events. CBS2 historically pro-motes public service announcements related to HARLEM WEEK.

Fox 5 – Lew Leone, Vice President and General Manager, has been an active participant in and supporter of HARLEMWEEK for many years. Under the leadership of Audrey Pass, Senior Director/Executive Producer, Communications & PublicAffairs, Fox 5 has participated in and covered “A Great Day in Harlem,” NY City Senior Citizens Day, NY City Economic De-velopment Day, HARLEM DAY, and has played a lead role in the Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Run/Walk which has been hostedand covered over the years by Mike Woods (pictured left), Good Day New York Meteorologist. Our youth programs andpublic service programs have been regularly covered by reporter, Lisa Evers. NBC-4 – Chuck Scarborough (pictured left), the renowned co-Anchor of “News 4 New York,” is a HARLEM WEEK honoreein recognition of his outstanding coverage of key events and activities throughout the New York region. Janice Huff, Me-teorologist, has hosted some HARLEM WEEK events and awards presentations at Gracie Mansion as well as selected on-air programs promoting HARLEM WEEK’s health and youth initiatives. David Ushery, co-anchor for the weekend editionsof “News 4 New York,” has covered many HARLEM WEEK events and activities and has provided on-air programminghighlighting key HARLEM WEEK initiatives. Pat Battle, co-anchor for “Weekend Today in New York,” has covered manyHARLEM WEEK entertainment and cultural events. She has also hosted HARLEM WEEK representatives for various on-airprograms. NBC4 historically promotes public service announcements related to HARLEM WEEK.

NY1 – has been a long standing supporter of HARLEM WEEK and in 2014 NY1 stepped up to support our 40th Anniversary.The lead role was played by Cheryl Wills (pictured left), Weekend Evening Anchor, supported by Dean Meminger, Jr.,Criminal Justice Reporter, George Whipple, Society Reporter, and Bob Hardt, Political Director.
