Meanwhile their pharma firm, Jubilant Lifesciences, reeling under debt of $630 million as interest costs soared, saw its stock fall by two-thirds in the past year. Brothers also own stake in AIM-listed Jubilant Energy. The Bhartias began by acquiring Max India's bulk drugs unit and followed it

up with one acquisition in Europe and two in the United States. Bulk drugs,

generics, formulations, contract manufacturing, contract research, clinical

trials, drug discovery and biotechnology -- Jubilant Organosys has a wide

spectrum of life sciences activities in its portfolio. All built within the last

couple of years.

Hari Bhartia, co-chairman and managing director of Jubilant Organosys, is

the public face of the company. His brooding eyes and salt-and-pepper

beard often peep out of Page 3 columns. Bhartia's wife, Kavita, is a designer

runs pizza chain Domino's in India and opened its first overseas outlet in Colombo, Sri Lanka in September. It will

open Dunkin' Donuts stores next year. Pharma outfit Jubilant Life Sciences' shares fell as margins squeezed by rising

costs. Listed their Netherlands-incorporated oil-and-gas explorer Jubilant Energy on London's AIM in 2010.
