The mix design is tailored to local cementand ag g r e g ates and uses superplasticisert e c h n o l o gy(S i k a m e n t / Vi s c o c re t e )to achieve high workability and strength with al ow water:cement ratio and economic cementc o n t e n t . Sika steel fibres allow 'joint-free'floors to become possible whilst Sika jointingsystems armour and protect movement jointswith excellent load transfer. S h r i n k age isminimised using expansive or shrinkagec o m p e n s ating admixtures.

Why harden concrete?Concrete alone has limitations in terms of

d u s t i n g , p o r o s i t y, c h e m i c a l , abrasion andimpact resistance and aesthetics. In order tod r a m atically improve a concrete floors'lifespan it can be hardened or 'armour plat e d ' ,along with adding colour and vitality.

What is a surface hardener?Either a chemical hardener (liquid) or a dry

shake (pow d e r ) . Chemical hardeners impreg-

n ate the surface of old or new concrete andreact with the constituents, thus improving thep r o p e r t i e s . D ry shake hardeners are applied ton e w, wet concrete to form a monolithicarmoured skin on the surface, some 2-3mmt h i c k . Sika-Armorex have a full range of alltypes of hardener, from economy to ultra highp e r f o r m a n c e . All dry shake hardeners have thea d v a n t age of fibre suppressant qualities wheresteel fibres are used.

What differentiates them?

With chemical hardeners the type andsolids content primarily affect performance.
