These are widely used in mild cleansing products such as baby wipes, facial washes, mild hand soaps, acne and baby shampoos

There are 2 main types: acetate and propionate. Acetates are traditionally the most commonly used in mild products.

The acetate contain high levels of sodium chloride (salt) as a by-product and the propionates do not. The use of propionates can be an advantage for systems that require low salt.

Stable in extreme pH conditions- acid or alkaline

Sulfosuccinates are excellent foamers and primarily used to replace SLS and SLES type surfactants for a “sulfate-free” claim

They are extremely mild to both eyes and skin and can also reduce the irritation of other typical anionic SLS and SLES based formulations

Must be formulated at moderate pH ranges 6.0-7.0
