November 2017 Dear Residents, Family and Friends of Glenbrooke Happy Thanksgiving everyone! It’s been quite a year, and I know I am thankful for the wonderful blessings we have received. We made it through Hurricane Irma with minimal damage to our campus. Thank you for all the kind words and letters you sent me after the storm. I’m so thankful for the members of my team who sheltered in-place at Glenbrooke during the storm. It was a pleasure to serve and entertain you! We will be celebrating Thanksgiving in our dining room on Saturday, Nov. 18. Come join us as we say thanks for all the wonderful blessings in our lives. K is for kitchen, the oven’s on low, S is for silverware, set in a row. G is for Grandma, the one we love most, I is for inside, where we’re warm as toast. V is for vegetables, eat them we try, I is for ice cream on top of the pie. N is for never do we have enough dressing, G is for Grandpa, who gives thanks for our blessings. Ode to Thanksgiving by: Marty Lostheart On this Thanksgiving Day, I am thankful for life and to be able to share it with my friends, kids and wife. Everyone celebrates Thanksgiving in their own way But let’s take a look at the original Thanksgiving day. It was many, many years ago when Pilgrims arrived and the Native Americans taught them how to survive. And in return, the Pilgrims gave them things brand new like measles, cholera, chicken pox and all types of flu. They destroyed a great nation and took their land and killed their families whenever they took a stand. So, when you give thanks for things this time of year, I am just grateful that some of my people are still here. Happy Thanksgiving to all of our residents at Glenbrooke. We love you! Team Member of the Month Congratulations to Petra Caballero, our Med Tech on the Assisted Living Floor. Petra is the “go to girl” when it comes to pulling extra shifts, coming in to work in the middle of the night and helping the Kitchen staff as a Server. She has a great attitude and the Assisted Living residents love having her around. We are so thankful to Petra for coming in during Hurricane Irma to protect the residents during this stressful time. Glenbrooke is grateful to have such a wonderful employee! Congratulations, Petra! Resident of the Month, Rose Paterson Congratulations to November’s Resident of the Month, Rose Paterson. Not only does she enjoy reading, but she also is Glenbrooke’s faithful Librarian. Every morning after breakfast you can see Rose returning books to their shelves. Rose has another hobby close to her heart, pampering her orchids; she has five different varieties. If you see Rose in the library, be sure to thank her for all of her hard work. We love you, Rose!
