Our Mission
The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is to raise public awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women, to help severely injured service members to aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.
WWP accomplishes this mission by providing programs and services to severely injured active service members and their families during the critical time between their initial rehabilitation while on active duty and their eventual transition to civilian life.
Our Programs
The Wounded Warrior Project is dedicated to serving the needs of a new generation of veterans
and ensuring that the United States government and the American public live by our motto, "Putting Veterans First in America." The WWP provides vital assistance to severely injured service members at the critical time between their hospital recovery and their transition to civilian life back home. Our work begins right at the hospital bedside of the severely injured as they undergo treatment and rehabilitation in Department of Defense facilities and continues through their rehabilitation. Our programs are designed to meet the following four areas of need:
Providing comfort and aid to patients and families; Assisting the wounded in their rehabilitation and transition to civilian life; Educating the public about the sacrifices made by these courageous individuals and
enlisting public support for their needs; Providing severely injured service members and disabled veterans with a unified
voice in national and local issues of importance to them.
Thanks to the generous support of the American public, the WWP has reached thousands of wounded service members, providing comfort items, counseling, and rehabilitation to aid in the transition from a hospital bed to an independent life at home.
To find out more, visit our website at www.WoundedWarriorProject.org or call (540) 342-0032.

Albany St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2012 Charity
Blessed Sacrament Church’s Food Pantry Our Parish based food pantry serves an av-
erage of 225 families each month. As a mem-ber of "The Food Pantries of the Capital Dis-trict", we follow the geographic boundaries
put in place by this group.
We are open every Monday and Thursday from 10:00 - 11:15 AM except holidays or
days in which schools may be closed due to weather conditions.
Volunteers staff our Pantry and assist regularly with deliveries, which we receive from the Regional Food Bank in Latham, New York twice a month. In addition to our Food Pantry, we are able to assist our fami-lies through our Thrift Store and/or refer our families to area agencies to address their specific needs. If you are aware of an area families that needs this assistance or if you would like to volunteer your services to
make a difference in our community , please contact 482-3375.
The Parade Committee/Divisions will be collecting NON-PERISHABLE food donations at all events,
INCLUDING MASS on St. Patrick’s Day.
