Happy New year to everyone and may 2016 be an epic year for all HHYC members. I hope Everyone had a happy holidays. First I would like to thank everyone who has worked so hard to make HHYC the wonderful club that I have come to love and hope to have your continued support this year. We have some great plans instore for HHYC:
Starting with the upcoming Commodore’s ball which should be an excellent time.
I would like to do a super bowl
party if there is interest and we get volunteers to host.
We also need hosts for the
Garlic festival which could be scheduled in the last half of March (Pt Ludlow, Bremerton Yacht Club or Kingston).
In April, The Tacoma Yacht Club
Daffodil Festival (no host) will be April 15th -17th.
Memorial weekend will once
again be the 100 mile cruise.
Last weekend in June is Rock the Dock – Special thanks to Laura and Mike Williamson for hosting.
Other events include the Crab Derby, Halloween, and Pay your Dues.
Although we will have many of the same events, I would like to add some new events. Starting with February 27th, please come join me in celebrating my birthday by supporting the Rat City Roller Girls in their Washington State Conference bout at the Key Arena. This is a no host event and tickets run $20 a person (more info to come on this). Second, I am arranging some special guest speakers (Coast Guard and NOAA) to speak at some of the upcoming meetings. Perhaps we might get higher attendance and if you have a suggestion for subjects or speakers please let me know. These won’t be long talks but good contacts and good information for the club. Finally, let’s go to Port Hudson (Pt Townsend) for the weekend after the 4th of July. It great way to kick off summer cruising or a trip to the islands.
This year also brings a change in meeting locations to Tutta Bella 4411 Stone Way North in Seattle. I would like to give a special thanks to Mike and Sue Burke for bringing me up through the ranks. I am looking forward to working with the new board members, volunteers, Vice Commodore Dane Fantz and his wife Terry, and Rear Commodore Vic Portolese and his wife Kari to make 2016 a great year for the Club. If you have any suggestions or would like to volunteer, please call me 425-614-3719. It is your involvement in the club that will make Hidden Harbor Yacht Club the best and most fun club. Again – Thank you very much for putting your trust in me and I promise to do everything I can to support your club. See you at the meeting and the Commodore’s Ball!!!
