Have You Paid your Dues?

It’s so easy to forget. We use the money from dues to pay for our operating costs. The board tries very hard to keep costs to a minimum, while still trying to follow our vision of “a dynamic musi-cal community.”

Dues are: Individual ($30), Family ($35), Student ($10), Organization or Ensemble ($60).

You can pay them on-line by choosing the Pay Dues option on the left hand side of our web-site or by following the link http://downersgrovemusicclub.org/renew.html .

Of course, you may still pay your dues at our February program or by mailing a check to:

Downers Grove Music Club

P.O. Box 551, Downers Grove, IL 60515

THANK YOU to all of you who have paid already!

Performers Needed!

We still need performers for our last concert of the season—at the DG Library on Sunday, May 20 at 2:00 pm. The theme is “Classical Jam” so any “classical” music will work. This is an ideal time to play or sing something you’ve been work-ing on or that you absolutely love to perform. Because that is the music our audience will love to hear! If interested, please contact Charlotte Ewing at [email protected] or 630-985-8472 .

Donald Drew’s Sheet Music Collection

The Downers Grove Museum recently received a donation from the estate of Donald Drew that included a large amount of contemporary sheet music and sheet music anthologies for piano and organ. As many of you may know, Donald Drew and his sister Mildred were long-time members of the Downers Grove Music Club. Donald was an accomplished pianist, organist and composer and was well-known in the Chicago area. Zachary Bishop, curator of the museum, has asked if any of our members might find some (or all) of this music useful. If you are interested in looking at this music, please contact Zachary at [email protected] . E-mail is the best way to con-tact Zach, but he may also be reached by calling the museum phone, 630-963-1309.

Music Award Applications Are Ready

The Music Award application process has begun. If you know of any talented music students who are juniors or seniors at one of the District 99 high schools, you may wish to direct them to apply for one of the music awards that the DGMC will present in May. Application forms must be completed and mailed or e-mailed, along with a perfor-mance video recording, by April 1, 2018. All directions and application forms can be found on our website by click-ing the appropriate award found under Monetary Awards on the right-hand side of most webpages. Juniors are eligible for a Rising Star award described in the link http://downersgrovemusicclub.org/scholarships.html . Seniors should link to http://downersgrovemusicclub.org/scholarships_college.html to find out about the College Music Awards.

Come in from the Cold!

As you can see on the right, our next concert will be a lovely way to get away from the cold outside and celebrate those we love ...
