“Miss 10, Do it Again!”

It is the LAW that you cannot miss 10 or more days of school and receive credit for your courses. Subsequent violations of the Scottsdale Unified School District Code of Conduct or Arizona law

including but not limited to A.R. S. 15-802, A.R.S. 15-803,

A.R.S. 15-804, will result in further disciplinary procedures, which will include placement on audit status and loss of credit.

What if my absences are excused?The law pertains to both excused and unexcused absences. This means that between the first day of the semester and the last day of the semester, you may be absent up to 10 times without school penalty; however, missing class information can impact your grade.

Coronado Tardy Policy

● Students will be marked tardy when they arrive after the tardy bell and within the first 10 minutes of class.

● Students will be marked absent when they arrive after the first 10 minutes of class.

● The only exception will be a hand-written pass from another teacher or staff member.

Excessive tardies can also result as No Credit (“NC”) in a class.

Summary

Your “job” is to be in class, on time, Monday through Friday. Absences should be for the times when you are contagious, injured, have an appointment that cannot be scheduled outside of the school day, and family emergencies only. In those cases, please have your parent/guardian inform the school through the attendance line.

Wear Your Identification

● All students and staff members are required to wear their Coronado High School ID cards on campus. Identify yourself as a Don!

● All SUSD employees are also required to wear their school/district ID cards

● All other visitors, volunteers, or guest speakers must sign in the front office, wear a visitor’s badge, and be escorted at all times.

Student ID Policy

● Students must wear their ID so that it is visible to all staff members at all times. The only exception is during any class/activity that may cause a safety concern (i.e. PE, dance, specific Science labs, etc…)

● A temporary ID card is required when students lose or forget their identification.

● Students must remain in class during the first 10 minutes and last 10 minutes of class.

● Students must follow each teacher’s policy for obtaining a pass

● Students must wear the individual teacher’s hall pass

● Students found in the hall without a pass and ID will have consequences after tracked offenses.

Students will accept personal responsibility for reporting misuse of the network.

Misuse can come in many forms, but it is commonly viewed as sending or receiving material that exhibits or promotes pornography or violence, unethical or illegal behavior, racism, sexism, or inappropriate language, or constitutes a violation of the district Code of Conduct guidelines.

Any student who believes that he/she is, or has been; subjected to bullying, intimidation, hazing or harassment by any other student, visitor, or school staff is urged to contact the Principal or Assistant Principals at Coronado. There may be times, however, when you feel uncomfortable reporting such conduct to the Principal or and Assistant Principals. In such cases, you should report the conduct to a teacher or counselor.

Step 1: Be kind and respectful to others!Step 2: Ask students to STOP being disrespectful when you see/hear bully-like behavior.Step 3: Report repeated offenses of verbal & emotional aggression and harassment. All forms of physical aggression/violence should be reported immediately!
