DMACC ALUMNICHALLENGE
Dear Alumnus,
It was 25 years ago in 1981 when the first formal Alumni Association wasorganized at Des Moines Area Community College. And, can you believe that thecommunity college system was founded in 1966 making Des Moines AreaCommunity College 40 years old this year?! There’s a lot to celebrate. Not onlyhas your Alumni Association been viable for 25 years (something of a feat incommunity colleges who largely don’t have organized alumni associations), theorganization has made a real impact through close to $300,000 in scholarship andgrant awards to almost 400 DMACC students. Des Moines Area CommunityCollege is the largest community college in Iowa with another record enrollmentthis spring semester of 16,262 students.
This newsletter is the official kick-off of the Alumni Association’s annualALUMNI CHALLENGE UN-PHONATHON where we ask for your help inproviding the funds for our membership and scholarship fund. Out of respect foryour privacy, we don’t disturb you with phone calls—but we still count on yoursupport! Your support helps students coming to DMACC to improve their livesthrough education who need some financial help to realize their goals. This springsemester 14 students received $12,500. Please use the contribution form on thispage to let us hear from you and be as generous as you can. Your gift returnsbenefits, too. Benefits of membership are listed in this newsletter. On behalf ofthe Alumni Board and the students you have and will help, THANK YOU!
Sincerely,
Morgan ConnAlumni President
P.S. Be sure to check out our new and improved web site, alumni.dmacc.edu. It contains information on activities, benefits, jobs and more. We hope you’ll find it useful.
