12Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of

Christ Jesus. 13Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do,

forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

My plan is to become just like Jesus. My goal is to please God. My desire is not to disappoint Jesus. Romans 8:28-29  28And we know that all things work together for

good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

My plan is to forget my past. My goal is to look at Jesus. My desire is to do great things for Jesus. Hebrews 12:1-2  1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with

so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

My plan is to finish my spiritual race. My goal is to be fervent for Jesus. My desire is to glorify Jesus. II Timothy 4:7

7I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my

life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Why some Christians lose their effectiveness 1. Distracted 2. Looking back 3. Quit early 4. Forget the prize 5. Stop pressing
