GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE Vern Brumitt—Governor ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

ADMINISTRATOR’S MESSAGE

Hello, my name is Tom Haeger. On July 13, the board of officers elected me as Acting Administrator of our lodge. I am looking forward to the opportunity to help keep our lodge office up to date on all business related issues. As you know, our lodge is for sale. We have had one written offer, which we rejected due to it being well below what the membership agreed to sell the building for. Another gentleman was walked through the building a few weeks ago but decided that it would not work for his purposes. Our realtor continues to promote our building and is working to find us a new home. In the mean time, please continue to support your lodge by enjoying a good meal or a drink or two with your Moose friends. Tom Haeger— Acting Administrator ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

MOOSE LEGION

Ok, first up. I neglected to put out a Moose Legion newsletter last month. Shame on me. With that said, you should notice that Amos is back with us. He is our reward for traveling the most miles to the last Celebration in Enumclaw. We are needing more attendance at our Moose Legion meetings. Having only 3 or 4 Legionnaires there makes it tough to put together an agenda to help our Moose Legion grow. Please make plans to attend our next meeting on August 3rd at 6:15 PM. Until then, do some good thing for someone each day Tom Haeger, Asst. Secretary, Moose Legion 17

SENIOR REGENT’S MESSAGE

I had the opportunity to meet and visit with the girls from Washington/Northern Idaho House during their recent visit. What a polite and outstanding group of young ladies. It is with great sorrow and a deep loss that I inform you that Diana Cox-Pratt has passed away. Please keep her family and friends in your prayers as they deal with this sudden loss. Summer is a wonderful time to come down to the Lodge and cool off in the air conditioning and enjoy a beverage or meal. There is always a need for more volunteers and we appreciate everything that anyone does to help out. We can’t do what we do without your help and support. Don’t forget the WOTM does dinner every Thursday night and Bingo. Dinner starts at 5:30pm and Bingo starts at 6:00pm. We also do a light lunch on Sunday during the LOOM Bingo. Lunch starts at between noon and 12:30pm and Bingo starts at 1:00pm. We are also now needing to fill the position of Guide, if you think you would like to take this position, please contact me ASAP. Marylee Taylor, Senior Regent, 573-1231 (H) or 360-624-5605 (C) *************************************************************************************** HIGHER DEGREES—ACADEMY OF FRIENDSHIP There will be no Academy of Friendship meeting on Wednesday, August 3. The Higher Degrees Luncheon is taking the summer off and will meet again in September, have a GREAT SUMMER AND SEE YOU IN SEPTEMBER!

SOCIAL QUARTERS If there is something you would love to participate in or see happen and we have no listing for it, please let us know at your convenience. You can stop by the lodge and speak to one of the officers. Or you can leave us a note. Please include your name and phone number so we may contact you. We are also look-ing into some new activities. Check for your lucky number at the bar every day. Get fifty cents off your first drink. This is based on the last digit of your membership number. The Lodge is looking for volunteer bartenders. If interested or you know of someone who is please contact the Administrator. No one is allowed behind the bar without the permission of the bartender on duty. KITCHEN Stop by and see what new meals we have to offer. We need volunteers so if a few more members would step up that would be great. Thanks everyone for volunteering. Taxes are included in the price of all meals served. All volunteers are appreciated. Only designated cooks or helpers are allowed in the kitchen. This is for the health and safety of all involved. Please abide by these rules. PRINTER CARTRIDGES We are recycling printer cartridges and old printers as a building maintenance fundraiser for repairs. Please bring your old printer cartridges to the lodge to recycle. There is a collection box in the lobby. NEWSLETTER If you or someone you know has not received a newsletter please stop by the lodge to pick one up. If you would like a newsletter emailed to you please provide us with your name and email address. The current plan is to start mailing the Newsletter out to both the LOOM and WOTM Members starting this summer. FUTURE EVENTS For any other activities please contact either the LOOM or WOTM board members so a date can be reserved for the activity. The sooner the better so we can advertise the activity. ROOM RENTAL INFORMATION To rent a room for an event please contact the Lodge. ADVERTISING The Vancouver Moose Lodge is going to give businesses an opportunity to advertise in our Newsletter. We have 350+ members who receive the Newsletter by mail and email. These could be customers who may need your services. The cost will be $85.00 per year for non-members and $75.00 per year for members. All advertising will be reviewed and approved by the Board of Officers. This would be standard sized business cards. If you are interested please give a copy of your advertisement to the Administrator or Governor. CONTACT INFORMATION

Want to make a difference? Volunteer. Just one hour a month can make a world of difference. In that one hour you can help in the kitchen (Food Handlers Card needed), sweep a floor, taking out a bag of trash, sell tickets for an event or raffle. If you like working outside it could be pulling weeds, trimming plants and trees, cutting grass, picking up trash or just general sprucing up the grounds outside. If each member of both the LOOM and WOTM gave just one hour a month it would be over 500 hours of volunteer work. Besides, in that one hour you might make a new friend, get re-acquainted with an old friend or you just might find out that you are enjoying yourself.
