Steps to creating a good quality surface

1. Stain

The stain process increases the roughness

on the surface of the plastic to ensure

proper adherence of the metal layers.

2. Chemical nickel

A continuous nickel layer is created in a

chemical nickel bath and has an auto-

catalytic effect to stop nickel disintegration

when the carrier is removed.

3. Pre-nickel

The pre-nickel bath is the first electrically

conducted bath, increasing the thickness

of the nickel layer.

4. Polished copper

Electricity is used to apply a polished

copper layer to provide the gloss and

act as a “buffer” between the metal

layer and the plastic.

5. Polished nickel

The polished nickel bath increases the

gloss of the item and provides an anti-

corrosive layer to protect the item

against standard household cleaning

products.

6. Polished chrome

The final polished chrome bath gives

the product its shiny chrome finish and

the necessary hardness and scratch

resistance.
