Visits to historic & quaint cities await on this tour! Day 1, Monday, September 27… Hannibal, MO Join us on our comfortable motorcoach as we make our way to Missouri. We will begin in Hannibal for lunch at Mark Twain Dinette, Hannibal’s oldest restaurant. Famous for fried chicken, Maid-rites, (let’s see if they are as good as Iowa Maid-rites) onion rings, and homemade root beer, and much more. (lunch on your own) Ready to enjoy an old-fashioned trolley ride? Board the Hannibal Trolley at the Depot, for a narrated one-hour sightseeing tour of the city. After our city tour, Tom & Becky will greet us and perform a short skit and pose for photos. We will begin our tour at the Interpretive Center. The self-guided tour includes 7 buildings, including the world- famous Mark Twain Boyhood Home and the Museum Gallery with 15 original Norman Rockwell paintings. After the tour we will check into our hotel. We will enjoy dinner at Fiddlestick’s Food & Spirits Co. (dinner on own) After dinner we are off to be “scared.” Haunted Hannibal Ghost Tour: Discover the other side of Hannibal! Explore one of the most haunted towns in America on this spine-tingling guided driving tour. Day 2, Tuesday, September 28… After Breakfast at the hotel, board the motorcoach for Karlock’s Kars and Pop Culture. Step back in time and enjoy this classic car museum with beautifully restored automobiles, one of Steve McQueen's motorcycles and a vast collection of vintage memorabilia. There's also a wonderful gift shop. Lunch at Ole Planters Restaurant. Be sure to end your meal with a piece of delicious "Joe- made" pie! (on your own) After lunch, you will have free time to explore the unique stores, art galleries, antique shops and other delights on Main Street in the Downtown Historic District. We will return to our hotel to rest and relax before a busy evening. Mark Twain Himself - Richard Garey Actor/historian Richard Garey brings Mark Twain to life with comedy, satire and drama, all in the author's own words, at Planters Barn Theater. Mark Twain Riverboat Dinner Cruise Begin boarding the Riverboat at 6 pm for the 6:30 pm two-hour dinner cruise. The boat is docked at the newly revitalized riverfront. Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner and live music. Day 3, Wednesday, September 29… St. Charles, MO We will enjoy breakfast at our hotel and then board our coach for St. Charles. Upon arriving, a tour guide will meet our coach and guide us through the streets of St. Charles. A river city with a unique historical perspective, beautiful sites, friendly people and a pace just a little slower than that of a big city. St. Charles receives five stars on Historical Landmarks in Missouri. You might want to take a note of the shops and boutiques you plan to visit during your stay. Lunch will be on main street. (on your own) Next, we head over to the Convention and Visitors building for the “History with Hats Tour” We will enjoy a spirited rendition about the history of the founding of St. Charles, in 1769, through the “World’s Fair of 1904” and into modern day. This interactive presentation will bring history to life. Later this afternoon we will tour Lewis and Clark Boathouse Museum. See Full-scale replicas of boats used by Lewis & Clark, plus exhibits detailing their 1804 expedition. You will be right by the mighty Missouri River, and the First State Capitol of Missouri. Check into our Hotel. Your evening is free for you to explore. B, Happy Hour Day 4. Thursday, September 30… Breakfast this morning in our hotel. Board our coach to tour the Sacred Heart Academy and Shrine of Saint Philippine Duchesne. In 1818, at age 48, Philippine Duchesne set out with four other Sacred Heart nuns on a voyage across the Atlantic Ocean and upriver from New Orleans to the tiny village of St. Charles on the Missouri River, 25 miles from St. Louis. This afternoon we depart for the beautiful hills of wine country in Defiance, Mo. Lunch at Defiance Ridge Winery. After a relaxing lunch we tour The Daniel Boone Home. After the tour we return to the hotel. The evening is free for your enjoyment. You may like to stroll the “Modern” Streets of St. Charles. B, L, Happy Hour Day 5, Friday, October 1… Enjoy breakfast in the hotel. Bid farewell to St. Charles and board our coach for home. B
