    Call to Worship

    Special Music: Happy Birthday Jesus

    The Reason for the Service

The children just reminded us what this service and this season is allabout. As this weekend traditionally begins the Christmas season, let ustake time to prepare our hearts as well as our church. As each specialdecoration and symbol is placed throughout our sanctuary, reflect on itsmeaning. Let yourself feel what Mary felt. Consider the decisions Josephwas agonizing over. Journey to Bethlehem tonight and realize the

awesome, abundant love God expressed through Christs humble birth.Become star-struck like the shepherds. Seek Him with your whole heartlike the Wise Men. And then gather at the manger and worship Christ forHis most precious gift to us Himself.

    The Sanctuary Evergreens

The most universal symbol of Christmas is the use of evergreens. Ancient

Romans used evergreens as an emblem of peace, joy, and victory. Theearly Christians placed them in their windows to indicate that Christ hadentered the home. Holly, ivy, pine, and fir are called evergreens becausethey never change color. They are ever green ever alive even in themiddle of winter. They remind us of the everlasting life that is oursthrough Jesus. In Isaiah 60:13 we find these words: The glory ofLebanon shall come unto you, the fir tree, the pine tree and the boxtogether, to beautify the place of your sanctuary.

Special Music: Provided by Stephanie FowlerAction: During the song, evergreens are placed on the prayer rail.

Go Tell It on the MountainGo, tell it on the mountain,

Over the hills and everywhereGo, tell it on the mountain,That Jesus Christ is born.

Down in a lowly mangerThe humble Christ was bornAnd God sent us salvation

    That blessed Christmas morn.

Go, tell it on the mountain,Over the hills and everywhereGo, tell it on the mountain,That Jesus Christ is born.

O Little Town of BethlehemO little town of Bethlehem,How still we see thee lie!Above thy deep and dreamless sleep,The silent stars go by;Yet in thy dark streets shineth

The everlasting Light; The hopes and fears of all the yearsAre met in thee tonight.
