A Flexible Contactless Card Terminal

The Handy H600S5 Card Reader is a re-programmable contactless smartcard terminal designed for use with the Samsung S5 smartphone. The reader contains a large 6400mAh Lithium polymer battery which will charge the phone in the field to enable 15 hrs of continuous usage. A full recharge cycle is achieved in less than 5 hours using a suitable USB port or charging cradle.

The reader has an ISO14443-A/B/Mifare compliant reader in the back which also supports FeliCa, ISO15693 (Vicinity) and ISO18092 (NFC)

A single ISO7816 compatible SAM slot (3V/5V) is provided to allow the secure storage of encryption keys.

The reader also has an integrated 1D/2D Barcode scanning engine with built-in illumination and aimer and is compatible with most popular barcodes including UPC code, Aztec and QR code.

Communications with the smartphone are achieved by Bluetooth which is compliant with V2.1+EDR.

The rugged design allows the reader to be used in harsh environments. The unit is protected against dust and water spray and can withstand 1m drops onto solid surfaces.

Applications:

ITSO: the reader is used by ticket inspectors to check or issue travel products, entitlements, vouchers and stored travel rights. It can also be used to display the travel history of a travel card and to validate or clip IPE’s.
