!Welcome to the
!Preface We are happy to welcome you to the 8th Summer School in Elmstein -- enjoy your stay!
What’s new this time: We are offering now additional beginner workshops on Sunday, July 30th, for the duration of 5 hours. You can either book a class to try out something new, or to prepare for a workshop during the week. Looking forward to your feedback!
We are happy to offer again the 30 minutes time slots “Open Stage” for everyone to present your music as a band or as soloist to the Summer School participants. Your performance is not restricted to Irish music only, you could show exceptional instruments usages, touch other genres, or show your special cross-over approach in folk music. If you are interested, please contact Wulf to find one of the 5 possible time slots throughout the week.
As always, if you have ideas for improvements of the event, please send your comments to [email protected] — many thanks!
Please join the Welcome Message on Sunday at 18:45 in the Dining Room.

!Folksounds In 2015 we started a new initiative at the Naturfreundehaus in Elmstein, which is focussing on European folk music. Under this headline we bring together singers and players of (rare) instruments and expose them to mostly unknown songs and tunes to elaborate on interesting, new arrangements. Next events are the “Folksounds Transatlantic Workshops” from September 28th to October 1st 2017, the “Band Workshops Huesch” from October 12th to 15th 2017 and the “Band Workshops WÖR” from December 14th to 17th 2017. Please also note the “Folksounds Winter Workshops” in your calendar for February 1st to 4th, 2018.

Behavioural Think-abouts — Please keep in mind:
‣ Workforce of the Naturfreundehaus are many nice people, so please do not treat them like hotel servants, no snipping with fingers, treat them with respect. Go for a fair discussion instead of complaints.
‣ Please bring back your used dishes to the prepared places, this is an enormous help for the kitchen staff!
‣ Vegetarian food is prepared for those, who ordered it! Please do not take any vegetarian food if you did not order it at online registration!

‣ The Naturfreundehaus is located in a calm valley of a wonderful landscape. Just try to be in the shoes of close by residents: they want to relax and enjoy silence during the night! AFTER 22:00, PLEASE respect legally requested silence: No music outside of buildings! Please close the windows and rather have breaks when opening the windows. No loud conversations outside, please respect the neighborhood! Otherwise police will be called by them to create a lot of stress for the Naturfreundehaus.
