For quite a long time in the future, GSM will coexist with othertechnologies. NSN attaches much importance to long-termevolution of GSM voice service. It foresightedly made a 4Gtechnology like a 2G one and proposed the Orthogonal SubChannel (OSC), the industrys first, which brought in QPSK andMIMO. For the first time in the world, four calls have been

carried in one GSM radio timeslot through software upgrade,and network capacity gets easily expanded 4 times. Moreover,NSN, together with China Mobile, submitted the technology to3GPP in 2007, becoming the leader of VAMOS technology.OSC also achieved good results in this Januarys validation testin Finland lab, which showed that network capacity was

expanded 4 times and voice quality was equivalent to AMR HR.
