ing a new chapter in my life. The premise of this theory is essentially that the Universe is filled with energy, and as individuals we can either attract posi-tive or negative energy. BasicallBasically, in short, if you think positive, positive things will come to you. For some, believing in this theory may take days, months, or even years. For me, I was hooked. The more I read and applied the I read and applied the theory, the more I believe it. I used it to help shape my life into a life that I am proud of. I learned how im-portant it is to give thanks:

thanks to the Universe, thanks to our families and friends, and thanks to our community. In lieu of Thanks-giving, perhaps keep this theory in mind and remem-ber how important it is to give thanks for everything and everyone in your life that you are blessed with. A little thanks can go a long way! I know right now some of you are thinking “What the hell is this girl talking about I don’t believe any of about I don’t believe any of this.” And that’s okay. But I really am not kidding you…this theory really you..-can be life changing de-pending on how much faith

you put into it. This collage is a representation of me, in a sense. I chose these say-ings from a page entitled “PowerofPositivity”. Each of these sayings spoke to me as a reminder of how to stay positive each day and to positive each day and to get rid of negative thoughts and energy that made me worried or anxious. I am sharing this collage with you as a way for you all to smile and stay positive this semes-ter. You have the power to be whoever you choose to be. Embrace yourself; be proud of who you are. You are truly special. Stay posi-tive, shine on.

Many students are dedi-cated to programming and hosting successful events. Everyone wants charities and non-profit organizations to prosper, so attending these events is in everybody's best in-terest. The 'Tis the Season kickoff-program was called Glitterfest, hosted by RA Alexa from Eisen-hower College in Kelly Quad and RA Jenn from Toscanini College here in Tabler Quad. It was a huge success! Speakers from each of the organi-zations talked about their individual causes andwhy they were so import-

The newest of all the organizanewest of all the organiza-tions is located on Stony Brook West Campus: the SBU Food Pantry. The Food Pantry is an initiative that began in Fall 2013. Since then, it has been greatly successful with stu-dent-given donations. The purpose of the food pantry is to provide un-dernourished students with available food items in times of need. The food pantry is located in the Gray College ITS center in Mendolsohn Quad. It is open Tuesday and Wednesday, from 7:30PM

tant. The event was amaz-ing and definitely got ev-erybody into the spirit of giving! The big idea about 'Tis the Season programming is to donate and to have fun while doing it-- by raising thousands of dollars across campus, we as stu-dents are helping other people in need across people in need across SBU, Long Island, and across the globe. When you donate any amount of money during 'Tis the Season, you could be pro-viding someone with extra care that they need, you could be helping a hungry person find their next meal, and you could be helping to support a family. It should be our civic duty to help those less fortunate than uthan us, so just remember that those few dollars that

you donate during 'Tis the Season could mean a world of difference for somebody else!

‘waterballoon the ra's!BY Anne mendis

On November 4tOn November 4th, 2014 members of the Hand Col-lege Hall Council put on a program called “Water Balloon the RA’s”. Prices to throw these balloons were $1 for RA’s and $3 dollars for the RHD and all dollars for the RHD and all proceeds made were do-nated to the “Tis the Season” fundraiser. For all you reading this article who don’t know what “Tis the Season” is….It is a campus-wide and Quad-wide fundraiser. Or-ganizations chosen for this years “Tis the Season” fundraiser is NANA’s House, Campus Haiti Relief, Sunshine Fund (Chil

Children’s Hospital), Stony Brook Veterans Home, Co-lonial Youth and Family Services, Holiday Love, Team Rubicon, and SBU Food Pantry. “Tis the Season” is also a UGC battle event and whatever battle event and whatever Quad raises the most money wins. It is important that we focus on raising the most money in order to boost up Tabler’s ranking in the UGC battle and to donate to some great donate to some great causes. As you can guess from the name of the program the RA’s of Hand College in-cluding the RHD and Hall Council President were subject to being pelleted at with water balloons. In chilly weather the Rchilly weather the RA’s braved themselves for

A surprise twist ending happened at the end “Water Balloon the RA’s”. A fellow resident of Hand College, Fredrick, paid $20 dollars to dump a huge bucket of water on RHD RHD Ron, Hall Council President Rachit, and RA Julio. The girlish screams were hilarious and worth the price. Another member of Hand as well paid a similar amount to dump an-other bucket of water on Ron, Rachit, and Julio. All in all at the end of the event Hand College raise over $200 for “Tis the Season”. Surely with all of our efforts we truly deserve to give ourselves a Hand! ourselves a Hand!

an onslaught of water bal-loons thrown by many indi-viduals from Hand College and other buildings in Tabler. RAs Justin, Cayla, Antonio, Julio, Marisa, and Olivia put on their game and faced the water wrath of everybody who paid. Bursts of laughter and smiles came out from ev-eryone as all the RA’s cringed and squirmed from the blasts of cold, icy water. Some of the RAs got hit in the face, chest, arms, legs, and places which caused tremendous pain. The event started around 9:45 and the fun did not end until 11:00. Although, it was terrible for the RAs it was terrible for the RAs they knew that their efforts would pay off in end for the “Tis the Season” fund-raiser.

HELP:WHAT DO I DO

WITH MY MAJOR?On Tuesday November 4th RA Antonio and RA Cayla collaborated with other RAs from Tabler to host an ACH for credit program called HELP: What do I do with my Major? The pro-gram was focused on helpgram was focused on help-ing students who are hav-en’t decided on a major or aren’t sure of what they can do in their area of study. The evening started off with a presentation. RA Colleen from Dreiser talked about accessing your Degree Progress Report and where to go for advis-ing. RA Cayla taught

everyone how to navigate Zebranet, a multifaceted website for job searching, resume building and much more. RA Lisa from Doug-lass talked about how to get involved in under-graduate research and RA Antonio talked about the Do’s and Don’ts of resume building. Following the presentation, RA Jenn from Toscanini and RA Mi-chael from Sanger hosted a discussion panel featur-ing Stony Brook Students from various majors such as journalism, pre-med, and political science. The

panel answered questions about their major, their re-search experience, their experiences outside of school, and any advice they would give to some-one interested in the major. After the panel, stu-dents were able to net-work and ask any further questions they had. The program also had repre-sentatives from the career center and academic advising to help students answer any further ques-tions. Overall it was a great program with over 50 attendees.

HAND COLLEGE APPAREL!BYDUANE LACHANCE The The T-shirt has earned its place in wardrobes across the world as an indis- pensable garment. If you’re one such person and looking for an inex-pensive way to add yet another one of these iconic garments to your wardrobe while also showing your Hand pride and supporting charity, look no further. This was the idea of RHD Ron and RA Justin, and I’ve gotta hand it to them—it was a bloody bril-liant idea.T-shirts tastefully embla-zoned with the iconic—al-beit somewhat pun-ny—Hand Col- lege logo are on sale for ten dollars at the College Office every day between 7 and 11 P.M. We’re also selling Hand College also selling Hand College fleeces made of only the finest materials. They’re grey and have the Hand Logo embroidered in red. The cool thing about it? You can have your name embroidered on theembroidered on them. They’re made to order and they may take awhile. Fromwhat I’ve heard, however, they’re well worth the wait. Oh, and lest I forget, they’ll run you $38. Origi-nally they were gonna be $40, but Hand Council decided to allocate to the company in order to the company in order to decrease the price for the end consumer—that’s you.
