Het ras NICOLA bestaat al sinds 1974. Wat Nicola kenmerkt is de lang ovale vorm en het gele “vlees” van de aardappel. Gekookt is de Nicola vast van structuur wathaar zeer geschik maakt op te bakken om te gebruiken in een aardappel salade aardappel het meest ges-chikt is voor koken, bakken en salades.

Renze is de derde generatie van het bedrijf. Met zijn gezin heeft hij een akkerbouwbedrijf in Bant die Bildtstar, Eigen-heimer, Doré en Irene teelt. Renze wisselt de aardappelras-sen af met wintertarwe, witlof, bloemkool en bieten.

Hij verdeeld zijn 75 ha land in verschillende stukken en wis-selt de gewassen om de beurt af. ’Een goede groei is afhan-kelijk van een goede zetting…’ aldus Renze. ’Ik ben erop gebrand dat de grond vochtig genoeg is. Maar ook dat de aardappel niet teveel zuurstof krijgt; dat kan weer zorgen voor schurft’.
