MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Hi There!

My name is Brenna Frith and I am the Principal at Hampstead School. I am so excited to welcome all of our student and their families to the 2021-2022 school year! While we are not back to our pre-pandemic normal we are settling in to our new routines and finding many alternative ways to connect with each other and our community. We would love for you to join us for our next virtual Hampstead Parent Association meeting (October 19th at6:00 pm) and our virtual Family Pumpkin Carving evening (October 28th). I want you to know that we are working hard to plan fun and engaging learning opportunities, while at the same time implementing routines to keep everyone healthy and safe.

Please take a virtual tour though our school by viewing this PowerPoint. As you scroll through the slides you will see your children’s teachers and their classrooms. You will also “meet” our student support team, literacy support and community connectors. We are all here to answer your questions and connect via phone, email and Microsoft Teams.

MRS. WHITE - KINDERGARTEN

Hello!

My name is Cheryl White. For the past 9 years I have had the privilege of teaching at Hampstead School. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to educate and get to know so many of our students. I hope to provide a safe and exciting learning environment for your children.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, taking my dog Sherlock for walks and baking in my kitchen.

MS. BILOUS - GRADE 1

Hello everyone and welcome to Grade 1! I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year.

This is my fourth year of teaching, and my second year at Hampstead School. It has been so great to meet my new students and catch up with students from last year too.

When I am not at school, I love exploring the outdoors and going camping and hiking, playing board games, spending time with my cats, and riding my bike.

I know we will have a great year learning and growing together!

MRS. VALKA - GRADE 2/3I believe that learning can be both challenging and fun. I love engaging my class with laughter and authentic experiences and situations. I try to foster a growth mindset and a “never give up” spirit in our classroom community.

Our class is taught that when something is difficult it is challenging us to grow and through this challenge, we learn new skills.

This year we have a teacher candidate working with us named Ms. Jesson and we are eager to share our year with her.

MR. WALKER - GRADE 3

This is my 12th year teaching at Hampstead School! I have taught grade 3, 4 and Reading Recovery during my time here. I’m passionate about active transportation and the outdoors. I plan to take your children outside often throughout the school year, so please be sure to send your children with appropriate clothing for learning outdoors.

I run a small (free) bike shop to do minor repairs on Wednesdays from 4-7 (weather permitting) at 394 Keenleyside in the parking lot outside the Keenleyside Family Resource Centre. My first day repairing bikes will be on September 29. Once the snow flies, I will continue to repair bikes in the school gymnasium. Please email me if you want to set up an appointment.

Hello my name is Ms. McAuley and I love teaching at Hampstead School. I am passionate about making learning fun and creating experiences for your child!

MS. DOMISH - GRADE 4/5

Hello I'm Ms. Domish! I teach Grade 4/5 here at Hampstead School. I have worked at other schools in

River East Transcona, but this is my first year at Hampstead and I am

loving it. I love my job and the students that I get to work with.

I am passionate about teaching and learning -- and having fun

while doing it!

MR. KRUK - GRADE 4/5

My name is Mr. Kruk and I have had the privilege of being a part of Hampstead School since 2007. After spending my first year here at Hampstead teaching a Grade 3 class, I was given an exciting opportunity to take on a Grade 5 classroom. Over the years I have been able to teach both Grade 5 and Grade 4 with this year having both grades combined in Room 5.

Together with a team of amazing and creative teachers, I am committed to providing students with a developmentally sound foundation for a lifetime of learning. At Hampstead, we strive to create and maintain an environment where our students can grow into resilient lifelong learners while exploring the world around them.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION - MR. ST GODARD

My name is Mr. St Godard. I am the physical education teacher for all the students here at Hampstead School. I have been teaching physical education for six years now. This is my third year here at Hampstead School.

I am a proud new dad to baby Oliver. Some of my favorite sports to play include hockey, curling, golf, badminton, and volleyball. I am a big fan of the Winnipeg Jets (NHL), Winnipeg Blue Bombers (CFL), and the Minnesota Vikings (NFL). My favorite hobbies include camping, ice fishing, hiking, and enjoying a bonfire with friends and family.

MUSIC – MR. OLIVERMy name is Mr. Oliver, and I will be teaching music from K-5 this year. Despite things still being a little different than a typical music year, we are going to learn a lot about music, and make A LOT of music as well. This is my first year at Hampstead school and I plan on making a musical SPLASH! I believe that everyone is musical and that it is important for music to play a role in your life no matter how big or small a role it is. All my classes are going to be filled with sound and enjoyment because you don’t just do music... YOU PLAY MUSIC, AND PLAYING SHOULD BE FUN!

LIBRARY - MRS. THOMAS

I'm the teacher-librarian, Mrs. Thomas. I’m a new teacher at Hampstead this year, but this isn’t my first time at Hampstead School. When I was in elementary school I was a student here!

I work with teachers and students on special projects, including research, technology, and inquiry. Also, together with Mrs. Kauk, I keep our library collection current and interesting for students.

I'm really looking forward to working with all of you this year!

LIBRARY- MRS. KAUK

I am the library technician, Mrs. Kauk. I see the students for book circulation and story-time. My favorite part of my job is reading to and with the students.We have a great collection of books in our library for students to borrow. Welcome back and happy reading!

READING RECOVERY & EAL LITERACY SUPPORTMRS. ENNS

Hello! I am Mrs. Enns. I am a Reading Recovery and EAL Literacy Support Teacher

at Hampstead School. In my Reading Recovery role, I provide grade one students with 1 on 1 support with early literacy. As a Literacy Support Teacher, I provide early

intervention to students as they are developing English language skills. I love

being able to help foster a child's progress and independence in literacy.

LITERACY & READING RECOVERY MS. PARISIEN

My name is Ms. Parisien and this is my ninth year at Hampstead School! This year I will be in the role of Reading Recovery and Literacy Support Teacher. I will provide early intervention to students as they develop their literacy skills.

In my free time, I enjoy doing yoga, riding my bike, reading, and spending time with my family. I am so excited for another great year here at Hampstead School!

Hello, we are Katie Patteson and Colette Molloy. We are part of the Community Initiatives Program that helps support Hampstead School. We look forward to running many school wide events (virtually!) this year.
