A CBD BEING RESHAPED

The CBD has quality companies and smart thinkers underpinning its success. Companies like Beca, Craigs Investment Partners, Deloittes, KPMG, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Tompkins Wake and Fonterra are active in the CBD.

Tertiary education is represented with Waikato’s largest tertiary Polytechnic – with 20,000 Wintec students in the heart of the CBD. Hamilton City Council, with approximately 400 centrally located staff they are also a large component of Hamilton’s CBD.

Quality accommodation is a strong feature of the CBD, with Kingsgate Hotel to the north and the Tauinui owned Novotel and Ibis in the heart of the CBD.

The Waikato Chamber of Commerce and the Hamilton Central Business Association are key to our CBD’s success. The Chamber of Commerce is driven to be an advocate for the city, it enters into business promotion and supports events. The Hamilton Central Business Association is a staunch promoter of the CBD and its core is to promote and project the CBD as the place to be seen and for people to undertake and engage in their business and retailing needs.

Sky City casino is also a key investor and supporter of the CBD as well as Kiwi Income Properties, which has recently invested $40 million into the redevelopment of the Centre Place Mall.
